TD R18 2.4 VFR rate...Is this normal?

I have an X18 in a balsa wood airplane that suffered a drop in VFR on both 2.4 and 900. I reoriented the antennas and updated the firmware on the radio and the X18. I have noticed that the 2.4 VFR sometimes drops to around 70, but it looks like the 900 is filling in. It seems odd as my SR8 in a foam airplane is rock steady 98-99% VFR (2.4 only). Same Xmiter in both cases.

Anyhow, is this nominal 2.4 VFR and is the 900 power output supposed to look like this?

Thanks!

The TD R18 has had a number of firmware update the current version is V3.0.2, I would also recommend you update yourX18 to RF version as per FRsky
[IMPORTANT] Updating Steps:
Step1. Please ensure the ETHOS radio is flashed with the latest system firmware [V1.6.0]. or later.
Step2. Please ensure the Tx firmware has been updated to the latest [V3.0.1].
Step3. Please ensure the Rx firmware has been updated to the latest [V3.0.1].

Have you corrected your earlier issues with low 2.4g RSSI.

If you're really curious, replace the R18 with the SR8 and see if VFR improves -- assuming that's feasible given the number of channels required.

As for the 2.4GHz VFR in your first post, it seems not bad to me. In fact, it's better than the 2.4GHz FSK VFR in many of my logs.

Assuming you're flying LOS in a relatively clean RF environment with a good transmitter and receiver antenna setup, I would think not.

As a casual follower of all things FrSky, I've noticed that there have been a number of reported problems with 900MHz power output. I can't testify to the current state of the issues.
