Taranis X9D + SE 2019 and X8R 8/16

Bruce

New User
Newbie to FRsky I just purchase a Taranis X9D + SE 2019 and 2 X8R 8/16 receivers. and was miss informed on what receivers I needed I was looking to use 24 channel set up and being told I need 2 Archer R8 Pro's to do this. Seems these receivers won't be available until late sept. Is this right?
In the mean time I'm trying to use 2 X8R 8/16 receivers. on my Fire boat. there is no wiring schematic in the directions FrSky assumes that we all know what we are doing to hook up a system.
Please excuse my Ignorance can some one help me correctly connect my receivers.
Where do I plug in power supply?
How do I connect the 2 receivers? i know i need to set up one as a master and other as a slave. do I use the Sbus to connect them? Do I need seperate pwr for each recvr.?
What is the smart port for?
Thank you in advance

Hey Bruce - With those receivers you can output 16 pwm channels. To do this you will bind the first one as channels 1-8 with telemetry on. The second receiver will be bound as channels 9-16 with telemetry off. Any sensors you may want to use should be connected to receiver 1. Use the same model memory and same receiver number for both of these receivers. Basically just binding 2 receivers to the same model memory, but sending different channels to each of them.

Basically when you click on bind in your radio, it will ask you what channels. Set it then.

As for wiring - You can apply power to any open channel. If you do not have any open channels, then add a Y connector to one of the channels. One side of the Y will connect to the servo, then other to the battery. If you are running a bunch of servo, please be aware that you do not want to pass too many amps through the receiver. If you have some big ol hungry servo, you may want to duplicate the power via Y connectors to avoid melting down the receiver. (Or use a more deluxe power distribution system.)

The 2 receivers do not need to be connected in any way to function correctly.

Hope this helps - just ask if you need anything else.
