If my understanding is correct the fine tuning is necessary for the Multi Protocol Modul. (It's part of the firmware of the MPM)
Without an MPM module there is no fine tuning.
The RM receiver do either have a good reception with an ISRM module or they don't.

Thank you Mike B for the explanation. It’s easy for me to become “wound around the axle” so to speak with this stuff. My X9D has served me well for over 10 years so I tend to stick with what worked. I currently have 14 of the old V-8 receivers in use today! ( Aint broke don’t fix it mentality). I’ve got 15 V-8II versions and 6 X versions in use as well. Technoligy tends to expand quicker than I can afford to keep up as well as my lack of computer age ‘wizardry’ In doing this inventory of receivers I discovered it would be nice if there was an area to record what receiver is being used in the model set up page for easy reference rather than physically going to each model individually. But then maybe there already is that I’m unaware of? Thanks everyone for your input!
