Taranis X9D+ 2019 will not turn on

This transmitter has been in storage for awhile, I was using this for slope soaring and dlg. Main battery was good and and it turned on ok except for an RTC Battery warning.
So I: Replaced the 1220 battery, updated to the latest firmware, updated the sd card and added some uni-rx files to update a few receivers.
So far all is good. I plugged the transmitter into the usb cable to charge the battery as I have always done in the past and after a couple of hours the power switch light was out. When I tried to turn on the transmitter again it would not turn on. Trying to connect to a computer would only cause the power switch to flash green rapidly.

So after lots of internet browsing and examining I found an input power trace on the RF Interface board burned out. Out of curiosity I installed a jumper to see if it would power up and all is working.

Did I damage the board trying to charge it by the usb cable? I had read a few reports of others having issues using the higher current phone/tablet usb chargers.
Is it really worth replacing the RF Board for $100 considering I can get an X-Lite or X14 for $300 and Aloft doesn't appear to have boards in stock.
Or should I just keep it on the shelf and use it for updating receivers?

Appreciate your comments.

Hmm, my brain is getting a little cloudy on the X9D tech support these days. I do not recall this being an issue, as I recall I would usually charge by plugging into my computer's USB, so probably not much power there.

Test with some small junky model and make sure all is good, but I'd think you are fine with your fix.

If your USB charger provides much more current or voltage than the recommended charger specs (I guess 5V 2A) then it might cause a higher charging current and if the trace is thin it will act like a fuse and burnout. If you see no other burned or darker colored components and everything works like it should, then I'd not worry too much about it. Just like what Wayne said.

Thank you all for the replies. Everything works as expected. I will continue to use the radio but charge the LiPo with an external charger until i under stand the the USB charging issues in better detail. I was able to update all of my receivers to the latest UNI Firmware so its a win. Thank You!!!
