Taranis X-Lite S for DLG

Neuroplasticity or the lack there of is always a problem with the introduction of new interfaces. Be these in the digital world of the computer OS. Or in the real analog world such as this TX body.

In the DLG application it looks to me to be where this TX would shine. Any short comings are more than made up by its size, weight and form factor, making it close to ideal in that application. That is why I purchased this radio.

I've only used this with one ship an F5-RESt class glider. Things happen slow enough that I can keep up even if I have to think about the TX.

I bet it looks odd when you come to the edge of the cliff with a 3 meter plus F3F racer in one hand and in the other this itty bitty TX.

To be clear I have no intension of selling this radio as I think it will be at home with me and the DLG gliders. I also like the size and weight for hiking.

Now between you and I, I'm thinking of getting a second X-Lite S as youngsters seem rather comfortable with this form factor. This would make it a great buddy box TX to give some lookie-Lous some stick time. Has FrSky gotten their wireless trainer system to work?

I have had a nightmare trying to connect my radio X light pro to any computer for some reason the USB will not connect so I am stuck trying to figure out a way of programming a model DLG to it I’m hoping that somebody makes this easier for the x light series. If anyone has a model format that I could just drop into my models folder using just the ssd please let me know. My issue is I also want to set it up as a left thrower and can’t find a way to get the ones i have found to work without connecting radio to PC. I have a 1m halk and hoping i could just get a file to drop onto the radio. I have the radio up to date with 3.14 firmware. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m located in Loveland CO and would also love to find some Colorado dlg flyers to connect with

There is a start up procedure. Do you have a copy of the manual sold by Aloft? It is well worth the $17! Also windows drivers and USB ports have historically not played well together. At times I’ve had to have Aloft use a Mac to do some service updates on my radio.

Open Tx can be programmed on the radio.

One problem i consistently have over the years with these types of things is using a usb cable that is a charging cable only. There are charging usb cables and data usb cables. The data cables do charging as well but if you try and connect a usb device to a pc with a charging cable it will not connect to anything. Just something to try.

You can take a look into the USB port on the radio, we have on very RARE occasion seen them damaged by an old cable. Look for anything that differs from the other contacts in the plug. (You might put your camera on zoom to help see this small details.)

The other issue is just good old Windows drivers. 75 out of 100, this will be the issue.
