taranis strange behavior

New User
i am using a taranis x9d se 2019 running v2.3.11 (4328055e). On about the 10th DLG launch of the day the ailerons will cease to work properly; they move only a small amount and when the stick is released they move toward neutral very slowly. I also experience an aileron turn when i move the elevator. This model file has been used for about a year and hasn't been changed. When it first happened some days ago i thought it was due to a low receiver battery so i stopped and charged and this seemed to cure the problem. When it happened again i quit flying for the day and installed a new battery (1s lipo). Today it happened again with the new battery so i brought up the output screen and was shocked to see the problem was in the transmitter. Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks Guy, I will try checking that, though I do fly another airplane with this radio an haven’t had any problems with it.

So two things. First, I can't open your .bin file. I have Companion 2.3.15. I found some bug reports for this in older versions of Companion where Companion wouldn't open .bin files from older versions. Looks like it was fixed, but may be back. If you want to share, you can also try the Read Models and Settings from Radio option in Companion, which will open a new .otx file, which you can then save using File > Save.

Second is a tip from the thread posted by @gnichola, which is to look at the stick position indicators. Not the outputs page, because that's after all the mixing done in your model setup. On the main model screen, click page until you see two boxes pop up. These have circles that move as your sticks move. Viewing this, and connected to your airplane, move the sticks.
  • If the circles on the display move as you move the sticks, but do not move the ailerons properly, the problem is with the model setup (which would be odd if it worked fine for a year), or an issue with the receiver or servos.
    • Addendum: If the stick movements on the stick display screen work fine, but then you switch to the outputs screen and they don't work fine, then it's a model setup or some weird glitch. If the stick movements on the display screen do not work fine, and the outputs match this incorrect movement, then it's a gimbal issue. This lets you check without actually having to connect your Rx up.
  • If the circles on the display do not match the stick movements, then the issue is with the gimbal or wiring to it.
Example picture of what I'm suggesting. Note the left stick is bottom center within the box, while the right stick which I'm holding down and left shows a circle partially down and left of center.
