Join us for one of the most popular social flying events in California! A great weekend of flying, fun, raffle and a fantastic Saturday night potluck BBQ!! Get your Campsites now for May next year, otherwise they will be gone very soon! Any campsite will work great, the closest ones are sites 1-37, here is the link. https://www.reservecalifornia.com/CaliforniaWebHome/ Just type in Sunset SB for the location. :)

There is always a chance to sell some planes! LOL.
Very excited for this next event! Woot!

If anyone is up to submitting a new T-shirt design this year, I am all up for it. But it has to be a vector file and legit.
I will be coming up with something. I think no more black shirts though, maybe a dark grey or?

Sweet! I grabbed sites 4 and 34. That pretty much gives all of the first sites to the glider folks.

That worked out much better then what we have done in the past. Good call Jeromy!!

Jeremy and I have been watching the dates. I had it in my calendar to start trying to get sites this week as its exactly 6 months ahead. I think part of the problem in previous years was that there were BOt companies that you could pay extra money and the computers would just sit on those sites and no human could be fast enough to get them. The parks made this illegal last year, after our event, so this is the first year in a while that only humans should be ordering sites.

Interesting.. I do hate bots! I think the rangers must have got tired of everyone complaining about the lack of campsite availability. I have run into this all over the place when I had my trailer. Sometimes you just had to show up and see if there was a spot available, usually was, but it was very annoying to travel that way. When you would walk around the camp at night you would usually see 10% of the spots were empty despite being reserved.

I'm wondering if we should do that too.

Still OK to get there early and leave after all the fun.

Whatsay?

Doc 'n Julia.

That's what I did last year. It does come with a cost in that one often misses the late night socializing. But being an introvert this really wasn't too high a price to pay.

All the best,
Konrad

Hi,
I did not get a reservation for a camp site. I assume I can buy a day pass and stay in Watsonville.

If you want to stay at the campsite I'm sure some that already have spots will share a tent space. Just post on rcgroups or facebook links and ask if someone has open tent spots. I'm already sharing mine..

Thanks - but the reason for thinking about a hotel was just because of a bad back.

Cheers,

Doc.

Doc, I really don't want to camp either. I'll take a bed and hot shower over a tent a 50c shower.
I've never been to Sunset and I've read the parking is limited. I guess I could get there at the crack of dawn to get a spot, but I'd imagine that the wind don't come up until afternoon.

That's the dirty secret THERE IS NO PARKING! Even getting there at the crack of dawn doesn't help as the gates are open and the dedicated guys are there the night before (camping). I've had to dump my stuff at the base of the hill and drive all the way down to the beach to park, hike back up where I dump my ships. And then hike to the glider port.

It really is a fun gathering. Do try to make it out.
