Basically we can fly anything there, glider or powered. When the slope is working in prime conditions it is amazing with huge lift everywhere, tons of airspace to spread out. Probably a mile or so of slope to pick your spot. As a result it is not as tight knit at Sunset. But the risk of a mid air drops to near zero. Landings are super easy. So huge planes and fancy planes are more the norm at this site. Big scale models, aero towing, are all popular here. With this said, even tiny floaters are still a ton of fun here.@Wayne We were on the other side of the potluck and didnt hear the Los Banos info you were talking about. Can you share again what you were saying about that event?
If conditions are not ideal, then a single slope face may bunch people up, and it gets a little more like Sunset. If the wind is not there at all, then we can switch to thermal flying and aero towing.
Camping is not the same. No tents allowed, fully contained vehicles only. You are locked in at night. Most people hotel it in town and group up for breakfast and dinner at local restaurants.
So it is a very different experience. Would be a great site for your big scale glider.
