Sunset State Beach Camp & Fly May 6-7th 2023!!!!!!

It is that time of year again to announce the 2023 Camp and Fly event and Sunset State beach in Watsonville CA!!! Wahoo!! It will be May 6-7th in 2023!!!

Make your reservations now if you would like to camp here at https://www.reservecalifornia.com/Web/ (search for Sunset SB)

There is also a hotel near by https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/wvi...s-watsonville/ that you can make reservations at as well!

Please make you reservations now even is you are unsure, you can always cancel at a later date!!

This is a slope event, so please leave all the powered planes at home. Bring very light planes to medium/heavy planes to make sure you have everything covered! There is usually a small swap meet, so bring planes if you would like to sell any and money in case you want to buy!

The parking lot on the way up to the hill is usually where people hang out to sell their planes.

There will be a POTLUCK BBQ (meaning bring something to contribute please) on Saturday evening. Last year we did the free raffle give-a-way at that time. Hopefully I will be able to get some more companies to donate again this year!

@2MUCH2DO site 1 and 37 are literally at the trailhead for the glider spot.

1-37 is closer to the glider port and in easy walking distance, however the bathrooms and showers are better in the Dunes camp area. You can always walk to the other camp bathrooms to use the showers. LOL

We have site 36 with thenated0g in 37 next to us for main camp just like past years. We also have site 34 across the street (next to the bathroom) for overflow as we always have extra folks needing a spot as we get closer to the event.

Very excited - I encourage you all to get a spot reserved right now. Later on if you can't go, I'm sure you can sell it to someone else that would like to attend.

This is my old Ridge Runner, I'm trying to buy it back. It was built by a long time friend who has passed. The seller is a bit elusive, but I have told him I'll take it his asking price.

We used to race those in Open Slope Pylon in the UK back on the day.

For a smallish plane, they go if you can stuff enough ballast in.

Funny, even now you can see Red's favorite colours on the wings and canopy. Dayum that's consistent!
