Had a productive rainy day today. I was able to purchase this Ocelot back from the guy I sold it to a few months ago. I never got to fly this one so super excited and got it all setup on Jeti. Its ready to go.

Also got the Twister 2 moved over from Spektrum to Jeti.

While going through my garage looking for something else, I found the SST wing I won in the raffle last year. Decided I still have time to build it before Sunset so started that tonight by glueing the wing halves together.

I only have two planes left (plus some others if I have time...). Still have to finish the SOAS amd then the SST wing. Wish me luck!

Ocelot is a nice flying plane you will like it!

We are still recovering 3 wings, 2x 48's and a 60" Scout Bee that we picked up at Cape Blanco last year; plus maintenance on the RnR Nova; plus repairs on the 89" Wingeron that took some damage at Blanco last year; plus getting older 3m Xantipa ready as well; plus.....; plus....... I guess I will bring tools and repair materials to Sunset if I run out of time! TWO WEEKS LEFT:eek::eek:

Haha sounds like you guys have just a little bit left to do 😉

I had to draw the line somewhere. I really have 3, 3d printed planes I was going to try and get done too but leaving those for last or will bring with me. I also have a frankenstien flying wing project Im planning to bring and build there. Cant wait!

The little Flat board thing can be built at the event.. in a lawn chair... while flying.. Ok - Maybe not while flying.

I have a Crash Test Hobbies Samurai to build when I get to Nate's or at camp as well as my Zupair Z1 and also a newly purchased Strike 3 DLG from Hyperflight UK.
Not sure I'll get all of that done but it will be fun to try.
I bought the Strike 3 in a 2 piece wing so I'll be able to bring it back to Hawaii. That will have KSTX08 servos.
The Z1 I will be doing the 2 piece wing mod that @Yotaman1985 did on his last year. Turned out really great. I will put KSTX08s in that as well.

We can all build them some night. I have a box full of them at my desk that rafael printed. If you are coming to sunset and would like one, we can ship it to you now and you can get her done in a night. Just email us your address. Maybe $10 to cover shipping and materials? contact@alofthobbies.com The plane is the Flight Board. While supplies last.
All airframes are spoken for.

Nate you and Kelly wanted one each, right?

So, you know the saying about the cobbler's children have no shoes? Well, the hobby shop owners X18 had no updates. at some point I just didn't want to update, but knew I really needed to. Jarron was nice enough to grab my TX and update, but being so old, it lost my model memories, and also the new RF forces me to update some of my older receivers. I'm very pleased he did the update for me!

Sadly, now the reality of getting the fleet ready means a bit more work. Updating the receivers, and reprogramming all of them. Oh well, good practice. I have a few EPP planes with the receivers buried.

On the bright side my programming is far cleaner and pretty darn consistent now. Oh yeah, and I have defaulted over to more typical flap throws with the throttle stick up being full crow. Others might have a chance to land one of my planes now. LOL

I have one of the Flightboards, can anyone who got one point me to some info on the one we have? A couple things of interest:
  1. what is the rounded filament for? It seems like a piece of printer material.
  2. Throws?
  3. CG?

The rounded filament is for the elevons. You will see some holes where the filament is used to align the parts. I'll check with Rafael for the CG and throws, I think he has a little document with this. :)

Ah yes, right there! Gracias!

Funny story, when I was holding all the parts together I thought the elevons were going to be hard to line up. These designers think I'd everything now didn't they?

Finally got my SST wing covered and Im happy enough with it... Covering has never been my strong suit so I struggled a bit. I did some reading and learned I was doing it wrong which didnt help. I tried the correct method which was better but Im still not great at it.

Also learned that my old Hanger 9 iron has a huge temp range in each setting. If I have it set around 300 degrees, it drops to about 225 before heating up again 🤦 I think I need to invest in a new iron at some point.

Ordered some orange covering film today to do something similar on the other side then I need to cover the elevons and she'll be about done.
