Stuck motor collet

Wondering if anyone has any tricks for removing a stuck motor collet. Its a turbo Z 30 mm spinner with a 3 mm collet. Collet is expanded by a screw on the front of the spinner. When new it was a nice snug fit but after some time and perhaps dirt from rough landings it is stuck tight. Hate to apply too much force because we all know how that can go bad quickly. Any advice appreciated.
Tom.

Typically I loosen the screw, and the collect will indeed still be biting into the motor shaft. So a little tapping/banging may be required to get the collect to unseat from the taper in the cross piece. You may be able to pull on the cross bar, or a little light tapping may be needed. Left, then right, then left again.
