"Sticky" throttle stick on X20S

The throttle stick on my one year-old X20S has lost its smoothness over time, to the point where it needs some force to "break lose". I fly helicopters and have disengaged the ratchet - with the ratchet I would probably not notice this behavior.
Has anybody else experienced the same, and is there a recommended remedy? Years ago I found a thread that suggested a teflon tape modification for Spektrum radios. I have to admit that I'm not too eaer to try something as drastic as that on the X20S, mainly because of the limited accessibility due to the 900 MHz antenna wire.

If you loosen the smooth tension, does this sticking go away? If so, a little grease in that contact area may do the trick. I'm pretty sure this is what you are running into.
