SR8Pro - excellent but RSSI drops in one orientation

Just swapped out an S8R to SR8 Pro. All good except when the antennae are (I'm guessing) shielded by the battery pack I get a short low RSSI warning. I'm sure it is possible to add something on the other side of the battery. Not sure what!

I also got the Glider Access Rx and a couple of M+ Rxs (tiny aren't they) - don't suppose it is possible to use one of those?

I'd be grateful for any advice - new to this redundancy stuff.

Here's a pic - 90deg and, on approach, behind the bulk of the battery. It is good in all other orientations and distance. I have never had a redundant Rx and was wondering how to do it (esp on Access)

Doesn't look like too bad an installation. But like you said both antennas are block by the battery with a nose high approach. Can you place one antenna low and pointed fore and aft? As to the redundent RX this is just an RX plugged into the S-Bus In port.

I've used the MX+ with ACCST. But any ACCeSS RX with S-bus out should work.

I don't see where FrSky claims that the SR8 Pro is a redundant capable RX. I assume it is as it has both S-bus in and S-bus out.

Normally I just plug in the secondary RX S-bus out into the primary redundant capable RX's S-Bus in and bind the RXs.

P.S.
The sales page does mention redundancy. So does the manual see features. With the stab there is a different process. Again see the note under the Feature heading.

How do I configure the extra Rx pls? Is there a guide somewhere?
Essentially you get a second receiver and connect it's SBUS out to the other receivers SBUS in and then bind them both. There area plenty of videos out there showing how to do the basic setup. Here is one as an example:

I have two SR8 Pros - one is registered and bound on a model. It is receiver number 40. The second SR8 pro receiver is number 42. I see there is an option to bind receivers 2-3 on the model - What do I have to do to the second receiver in order to bind it as receiver 2 on this model pls? (So I can plug it into 40’s sbus?)

Sorry, I am struggling here. I found the video I wanted in the first place:
Does that work for you?

Thanks - that is for Accst receivers - but I wonder is it the same with Access Rxs? As Konrad above says, the SR8 pro's docs say it can be used but I fall flat when it come to the bind thing - not sure how to register them. I'll take another look though and see if I can get it to work - I get the principle . I guess I use the same Rx number? I'll try it tomorrow!

GNic - thanks for your vid - was able to bind the second one (very easy!) I did some basic testing see vids - 1st is simple failover test - seemed to work, 2nd is evidence of sensor loss (presumably when running on the 2nd one)
SO, SR8Pros have redundancy. I wonder what is happening?!

Did you bind the second rx without telemetry, if not, that would be your problem. Also, not suggesting you go to this level to test, but I recall a video demo of redundant functionality where the guy just pulled the antenna off the primary receiver (that worked much better than your tinfoil hat demo :) )

DO NOT pull the antenna off! Can and will damage the RF chip pulling the antenna.

Better to just pull power from one receiver.

Wayne - tks. So, am I right in assuming that having a second SR8 in front of the battery should reduce low RSSI in that orientation? And, is there any way of knowing if any Rx failover is happening? Also, I read somewhere that "low RSSI" when using Access was actually ok? (I think I saw something about adjusting the warning threshold? (but is that possible per model?))

I have been using an S8R in exactly the same position on that plane with no RSSI warnings so was surprised to hear one!

GNic - I didn't bind the second rx with telemetry as I couldn't see any option to do so - If I recall, that was part of the "Channels? 1-8 1-16, telemetry on/off dialog with Accst but I didn't see it on Access.
