Sr8 pro power

Garrace

I have an archer s8r pro installed on a gas (DLE 35ra) Strega 30. All of the 8 channels are being used for airframe and engine. So where or how do I plug in the rx battery? On my electric power aircraft it gets power from the throttle channel. The only unused ports are sbus in and sbus out but didn’t know if I could power there or not. This is my first non electric powered plane.

I added 4 more channels to my x8r pro by adding the following components.

The channel changer assigns what channels you want on the decoder. There are you tube videos to show you how. I added the most non-essential connections to the last 4 channels. Hope this helps.

You can use a simple Y-splitter on any of the channels to bring in battery power. The power bus on the receiver is common to all channels, not just Ch3.
Some say that you could even use the Sbus or Smart port for this, but I'm not sure which one is actually rated for the total current. I have used the Y approach successfully.

Just saw this. It's ok to use SBus to power Rx and servos. SPort can only be used to power the RX. This because SBus can be used to control servos, and so the trace inside is beefy enough to handle the current. The current draw on sensors however is limited. So the trace internally is not sized to handle the current that servos may require

I'll never split power in. maybe on the secondary power lead... but one is always dedicated IN. All my batteries use twin leads.
