SR10 PRO: RANGE Problem-Low/Critical RSSI

dean

New User
Hello!
I am setup a brand-new SR10 PRO on a Brand new X10S Express running VERS:2.3.11-otx.
I calibrated it using the STAB RX Cali.lua. All seemed fine.
Installed in aircraft and it flew great... EXCEPT that at about maybe 200 yards, I kept getting a Low RSSI warning on my transmitter.
I have flown S6and8Rs much further with no such warnings.

When I did a Range check it complained about Half the distance that my S6and8Rs would go before they would start complaining.
Any Ideas or Suggestions??

Did you perform a range check prior to flight? If so did you return the power level to full strength. ANd if using ACCeSS did you lower the RSSI to the suggested alarm value for ACCESS RSSI is 32/35

Thanks for your reply!
Yes I returned to normal mode.

I cannot find in the manual where it suggests a 32/35 ACCESS RSSI Alarm; Could you point me to that?

The RSSI alarm settings are on the Telemetry page. On the Horus X10S its found by the following.

1. Click the MDL key.
2. Page forward till you get to the telemetry page.
3. At the top of the screen your will see RSSI, Source, Low alarm and critical alarm.

The default settings for these is 45 and 42db for ACCST Protocols . When using ACCESS the values need to be changed to 35 and 32db.

All ACCESS ARCHER receivers require this RSSI warning level change.

It would be nice if Opentx would automatically change these values if ACCESS protocols are selected, maybe this will be a future firmware upgrade.

Ok, thanks for your reply!
Just out of curiosity, why would RSSI decrease for ACCESS? I guess one could say that the system discriminates the signal better..less power?
I just don't understand :(

There is an issue with ACCST that causes an effect called swamping which leads to Telemetry lost warnings when the TX is very close to the RX. FRsky seems to have re-calibrated RSSI so this no longer happens and maybe one reason why the scalling of RSSI is now different for ACCESS. There maybe other reasons as well, however ACCESS does operate very well and I use it when ever I have a new Archer receiver.
