Spada - GoFast 3M

I got the Spada out again today. The more I fly this thing the more I love it! I tried a new slope today about an hour away in Tehachapi. I got there a little late, I likely missed the best part of the day. It was blowing maybe 8-10, but straight in and butter smooth. The kind of lift normally reserved for coastal sites. I'll definitely be back here!

I've moved the CG a little further aft, still no idea where it is but it just keeps getting better. In the light lift it gets up on the step well. I'm very impressed with how hard it will ping the turn in less than ideal conditions with no hint of flick. I've yet to be able to load it up but really looking forward to that.

Thanks to my son Ryan for the pics, sorry no vid this time.

So sweet. Damn.

Ryan did a great job capturing some good pics. :)

Looks really good!
Yes...look at that beautiful sky colour - who wouldnt want to fly in that. I think Ryan has a future as his Dads Press Director.

Model seems to be performing as designed - but its a pity there has not been more flyable weather down there this winter, or knowing Red, it would have had a lot more excursions. Having said that I think he has a couple of other things to do too (!)

Cheers - and thanks to Ryan and his Dad:cool::cool:

Hi Guys, a lot of people are asking me whats different between a GoFast model and an F3f plane specification?

The answer: Nothing, nada, zero, bugger all.

So why GoFast?

The answer: Since there are 23 or more F3f models out there right now, I simply dont want my model to be part of the general melee. Although it is 100% compliant to FAI specs, the Spada is much more, and I'm really happy to explain to anyone whats different and why.

In the last 2 days, 3 people have also asked me what are the differences between the new GoFast Spada and its father, the Redshift:
So here to remind you:

The answer: Spada will be just like the Redshift, but with:
  1. Smoother redistributed aerofoils.
  2. New mould technology (Smoother, slipperier mouldings).
  3. Highly advanced debulking process for super light mouldings
  4. Wings 6K carbon skinned as standard.
  5. More internal Kevlar/Carbon reinforcement. (Still Ghz radio friendly)
  6. Different control surface hinging method.
  7. Larger tail surfaces.
  8. Different 100degree V-Tail angle.
  9. Taiplanes carbon gauze reinforced.
  10. Skinnier, super-rigid fuselage.
  11. Bottom radio access.
  12. FAI accurate nose radius.
  13. Much improved fits/finish.
  14. Double sine wave spar - incredibly stiff.
  15. Higher spec UHM sine wave spar material.
  16. Includes wiring harness as standard.
  17. *Wing ballast only.
  18. Bonded with industrial adhesive.
  19. MUCH Lighter and stronger.
  20. No pre-installed control horns (Unless ordered)
* Actually a fuse ballast tube can be used, but they are not too popular these days.

Apart from that – it’s the same

Another plus point is that Spada will still be far less of an investment than a Euro-mouldie F3f, because it’s not a designated F3f - unless you want to fly it in that competition - in which case I promise you that it will be very competitive. Right now high prices are charged for Euro F3f models - and why is that? Because they can.

Actually, Spada is just a GoFast/TurnFast model (GT) and the equivalent or better than any F3f competiton model available right now and not only that...its available: AT A GREAT PRICE!

Watch this space!

Cheers,

Doc.

Man, if only I had been down this weekend. I make it to SD several times a year... Maybe next time. I'd love to fly at TP again.

Hey guys - Some SPADA GoFast Racer pics and a walkaround vid.

Red and Ryno Jensen will have a Spada at Torrey Pines this weekend for the Katie Martin tribute event. There will also be the Toccata 80 and Alpenbrise to try.

Go and have a stir on the sticks! Red will be happy to oblige.

Cheers,

Doc.

Phil in SoCal scorching his Spada F3f around on its maiden. Wait until he gets it dialled in.
Quotes Phil: "The Spada was ripping today! Really versatile model. Thermals at 100oz really nicely. Lands like a dream. Flew in sinky conditions well.
I love it!
