I know Wayne is building a Glostar in his garage...with no servos..he is actually gonna have to climb into something he built and fly it..(now that's a nail biter...talk about maiden flight jitters) and builds some full sized 4 wheeled toys..
Doc is...well...Doc.
Me, I not only rc but collect and shoot firearms..my two favorites although ammo has gotten very hard to come by.
First is a .50 Action Express Desert Eagle in apocalypse cerracote finish, Ford custom Fiber Optic sights. The wife nicknamed her Bertha, the big mouthed B%$#@. The second and newest addition to a growing collection, a Barret M82 A1 chambered in .50 BMG. It doesn't get a whole lot of exercise at 20 bucks a round..but when you really gotta relieve some stress, there is no better gunpowder therapy than a bullseye at 1600 yards.

I used to be into target shooting but have since got rid of most of my guns as i dont shoot much. I held on to a old 22 bolt action long rifle, a double action kind of cowboy 22 pistol, and i have an old survival 22 my brother in law found in the attic of his new house. Its a break down 22 that all fits in the butt stock. Old version before henry rifle started making them.

Gooder. Just giving you a hard time, lol.

Where do you guys fly in Boerne? Had land in Bulverde, had planned to move there from Corpus, decided it was time to move a bit further away. Guess we could have been neighbors.

Haven't had a gun for a while now, but used to go out and have some fun with them. We used to go on camping trips with some crazy guys, and you put all of your guns and ammo into a collective pile with everyone else's stuff. If you wanted to load it, you could shoot it. Was great for me as I never had many guns. The exceptions were a couple of really difficult/painful or expensive guns. I totally forget what this one long rifle was, but the owner was a big Marine and he could only stand to shoot it so many times a day as it took a toll on your shoulder. I shot it once, totally missed my target and was nursing my arm for a week. It would penetrate some very thick steel leaving a very nice hole.

Worst gun I had, and the one everyone at these events seemed to be the most afraid of came from my grandmother. It was a little purse 5 shot revolver that fired a 22 rifle. I always had to teach someone about using this gun, it was just stupid. First off, how to hold it, making sure you did not put a finger over the barrel. Then never aim too nearby, straight out was the best option. And hearing protection was a very good idea. The guy would shoot it, kind of thinking I was joking around with them. They then would shoot the ting, it would move in your hand, it would not go anywhere near where you pointed it, and your ears would be ringing. It was a horrible little thing. Never heard a 22 make so much noise. Don't know why they bothered to give it a 1/2" barrel as it did nothing.. Most people only fired it once.. LOL

Field is on privately-owned about 5 miles out. Towards new Braunfels
It's the new one so haven't been to it. Used to be s of SA towards Toyota but owner died and land was sold

The rifle you describe, Wayne, could have been a Barret. 50. Either like mine or their bolt action. I wear a vest with a sewn in 1 inch thick shoulder pad or a military issue plate carrier or it would rebreak my collar bone.
How's the big plane coming? Rotax or Lycoming

Since this is a get to know our other hobbies sort of thread. I guess I need to start off with the Aloft Hobbies welcoming team:
dogs - 3.jpeg

Sometimes it is hard to take a picture here at the office without one of the dogs in the picture:

They are a big part of my life, and I will always have a dog or two or three. They give far more than they take.

Other interests are pretty much anything with a motor, camping, exploring. Aviation has always been at the top of the list, pretty much all forms of aviation.

No man is complete without his dogs.
My Akitas. Kyoko age 10 and Hachiko age 3. Wayne...they like bully sticks if you run out of candy lol
They travel with me 24/7

Zero progress other than cleaning up my garage. We had been doing a bunch of work on the house, so the expensive play thing had to wait. Most of the major house stuff is behind me until spring, that is when 'she who must be obeyed' starts up with a new list of items that MUST be accomplished. :) My home garage is my man cave and it has the wing jig and now my home office setup in there. So I should be able to get back to dimple die work on the wing skins.

It will be a Lycoming. If I win the lottery I would go for the big UL Power engine with the turbo.

Smaller than a Lycoming, lighter, smoother and more powerful plus the turbo and the full fadec control and electronic fuel injection. I have been watching a number of pilots that are running UL motors and so far they look really fantastic for reliability, but they have not run up a lot of fleet hours like the main brands. Fuel economy sadly is the same as a lycoming of similar power. They are definitely becoming an interesting engine option for the experimental market.

I'll probably end up with a low hour O-320 as they offer the best bang for the buck. Will see what I find when I get closer to that purchase. No point in buying anything now and have it collect a bunch of dust and rust.

i'm much less stressed at work when I bring my dog to work. Even the mail man likes her and usually stays for a few minutes to give her some love...

I ain't gonna lie, I like most dogs a whole lot more than most people.

Last year my wife was visited by the good idea fairy and we ended up with a Border Collie puppy. It is like having a second toddler in the house. I am hoping he calms down a bit and I can start allowing him in the office while I am working.

They do calm down..some faster than others..Hachi, at 3 is still very much a puppy at heart...a BIG puppy..but a puppy none the less..his older sister is the calm, collected one..nothing much bothers her. But when they get to rough housing, sounds like the building is gonna collapse..

You just need to drain the energy out of the dog each morning.. Should only take you about 6 hours with a Border Collie, then he will sleep solid for about 4 or 5 minutes and will be ready for another short 6 hours of exercise. :ROFLMAO:

Honestly, need to find some activities for the pup and he will do much better. Border Collies need their activities. Maybe he will be happy if he can look outside, but probably not.
