@thenated0g the first thing that we had to fix on ours is the vertical stabilizer. We did that after 1st day of flying at Sunset ?last year. 2nd was the elevator. If i was doing this again i would reinforce the coroplast or laminate some balsa. The new Hawk we have the coroplast distorted a lot just from sitting around in the garage....

I did put 3 small carbon rods spaced out in the elevator with some thin ca to hold it in place. I will take your advice and make up a backup for the vertical stab when i go flying.
 
I'm planning to think about a pond in the backyard to observe if so few the many some tadpoles can be and want be to help as a frog here within the United backyards moments later...

Here's my Schweizer 1-26B from TMRC. I made it into a motor glider and placed the elevator and rudder servos pretty far back in the fuselage in order to counterbalance the motor weight.

OK - After reviewing the many posts in the thread, not an easy decision, so much great stuff you all were working on!!

With this said, I think I would like to award @bracesport for really going out on a limb and trying so many new things with the new glider build. It was fun to watch the progress on his project. He learned a ton and was not shy to try so many new things. Even though he is in NZ he is my choice. I'll send him a message and get some goodies off to him.

You are all winners though for getting out there and making/fixing projects and pushing your skills to new levels!
 
Hi guys - I am honoured - Covid has slowed us down and the hobby had to take a wee holiday but I am always chipping away in the background - tinkering!

this is a carbon DLG fuse I am working on using a pool cue and some 3D printed moulds (don't ask why I need a new fuse for my BAMF) - I used both an internal mould and and external mould to do the forming - I am looking forward to getting back into the office on Monday to review the front section that will complete the fuse.

The stiffened boom and front fuse section came out of the moulds with a minimum of fuss - the front section needs a bit more sanding than the boom in terms of surface finish, but the process in impressive - the wing seems to nest on the fuse (so my measuring and gest-imation was pretty good) - looking inside the front section of the moulding you can see how well the forming works with these 3D printed moulds - I am thinking the wall section is actually a bit light, so I plan to add an internal layer of carbon or fibreglass (depending on what works best - I had been allowing 0.6mm for the wall thickness, but I think the walls are only 0.4mm and while they are awesome, I want to make sure I can survive some heavier nose in landings!

another small update - given the wall thickness is super light and my flying is super 'nube' I am adding another layer of carbon into the fuse sections - this morning I made two new inner moulds (0.6mm smaller) to use to form the carbon into the current parts - I also layered up a fibre glass nose cone with roughly 3 layers of 0.6K cloth (very thin) - you can see the inserted parts in the second image. :)
