I'm making a sparkling carbonated water station. We have great water where I live which is a gated commuity with a private well, but sparkling water is my favourite. So instead of buying cases and cases of San Pellegrino or Perrier I can make my own whenever I want.

Those CO2 bottles are firetrucking heavy, so I made a safety trolley to move mine around more easily.

The appliance of Science - always good!

Well it all works very well indeed:

The rig all done. Connect the chilled water. Open the gas and shake the bottle.


Enjoy the lovely sparkling water.

All in all about 50 bucks, so it wont owe me for long.

Made a custom smoke tank for my BDXs. Took a CARF Ultra Flash wing tank, cut the sides to curve the bottom to match the fuselage curve, resealed and painted to match the main tank. It mounts under the turbine with 3d printed hold downs and has a little over an inch of clearance. No signs of heat damage from the turbine but I added some metal tape to help. I got to test it yesterday at work. Puts out great smoke and gonna try it in the air this weekend.

next EDF gets dialed in. Honestly too old and slow for those minis. Just a 50mm fan onboard and <1M wingspan on 4S batteries. I'll see if it is as much fun as I thought....

Got my wingeron Samurai setup today and ready for a maiden. Gonna need some wind though as it came in at 60 oz RTF... It needed a lot of nose weight due to the tail mod the previous owner made. Hopefully it will fly someday.

Its a turbine jet called a BVM Bobcat. Its on the list of projects... lol

Red's Mini-Wanderer got me interested in that 1970s design.
Mark Smith designed a 72-inch version and a 99-inch version.
I decided to fill in the gap with a home-built 78-inch version.
I shrunk the 99-inch drawings down to 78% and built the fuselage over the drawings.
Then I took a shortcut and fitted a Tower Hobbies VISTA wing (added WANDERER-99 tip shape).
I can't say it flys as good as a WANDERER, because I never flew one.
I can say it flys as good as a VISTA. No big surprise.
I think it looks the part.

Improving my thicknesser/Sander I made.

It started of as a really quick lashup so that I could sand/thickness my swiss pine lute top, and was powered by a Black and Decker drill. It did the job, though somewhat under protest. But actually the main parts are not that bad and it seems to work well, so I decided to fit an induction motor from a deceased belt sander.

Amazingly the motor RPM is within the sander operation window, not too fast and not too slow, and is even going in the correct direction. I fitted a "Bottle Guard" to the back end as I dont want to be touching that clutch at 3,500 RPM - and I'll fit a belt guard later for safety too. All that rotational kinetic energy could have your fingers off in a nano second of carelessness, and I'm somewhat attached to mine.

Looks OK, so now I'm just waiting for a couple of pulleys and a V-belt. Should be a useful tool.

Love it. Looks much better than a Samurai. Looks like it might be some custom wings too, this would be a good thing as the stock airfoil was rather piggy. Should be a ripper at that weight. Is it setup Wingeron?

Thanks Wayne, yea its set up as a wingeron. I was told they are Rotor wings and that the tail is custom and it is a full flying stab.

When you apply some thought; Pitcheron cant work really well as the point of rotation is very fuzzy. Also an MT does not work as well as an Elevator either on models and that is well proven, but but its a lot easier to make.

But heck, nitpicking! Get it out on a slope in a good blow and it will still thrill the socks off you!

Time for summer school at Aloft! We are more of a technical school here. Meet the students (both decent RC pilots):

First job is to clean up the work area.

First project, make it run:

The neighbor saw the kids running around and said he had the perfect project for them.
Degreased
New fuel tank and fuel lines installed.
Spark checked
battery installed
I can hear it making the first popping sounds as I type this.

Nice! you got the new version with the 3d printed wing joiner sections! the Balsa was not hard but the new version looks even better.
Mine is a real ripper! it flew so well at sunset, even though I'm not an amazing pilot.
