I have not seen his model fly yet, but it does have kind of a chunky airfoil, and I am always curious to see how different airfoils perform in the real world.

I trying to finish up some previous projects before i start on the big P-38. I know you guys are super busy with moving/setting up the the new place, but i have been having a heck of a time finding a replacement part for your wing joiner tubes. The aluminium inner with the fiberglass sleeve. At a comparable price that is. I may just do the diy paperwrap phenolic tubing. I can find lots of Carbon fiber tubes that slide inside of others, matching sets, but they are like 14" total. Or they are crazy expensive.

Nice! Looks plenty sturdy.

My Carbon Falcon quiver isn't nearly as attractive as yours, but it's functional. Twenty seven inches of 3" PVC tubing with 1/2" ply endcaps, braided paracord sling, and a utility pouch for spare parts. I'm hesitant to put any Aloft Hobbies stickers on it before an upcoming roadtrip; don't want it to look too theft-worthy.

I'm happy you think it's a good idea, Wayne.

I considered something from the hardware store, then decided to make them from materials on hand. The top cap has two 1" grip holes bored through for removing it. There's also a stop cemented just inside the top lip of the tube to keep the cap from going too deep.

As long as you're looking at McMaster-Carr, you might consider these tools. We used the hook/lift type a lot where I retired from for tracing wires, fishing small cables through openings, etc. They'd be really handy with those sail retainer bands as well as in other situations.

I've decided to move forward with my 60" ODR project. There currently isn't any MoM racing here on the West Coast, I'm hoping to change that a bit. Even if it only with a few friends. The plan is to 3D print a fuse plug and pull a mold.

@Red
Love the mini-Nova look!! I guess would be up to the builder to come up with a T-tail mod... Is there anything in the 'rules' regarding tail type, size? Is the nose FIA legal?🤣

But after talking with @Hawaii Sloper about different options we decided on a P-38.

Went thru some balsa plans on Aerofred and found ones i like. Traced out the parts in inkscape and scaled them up for a 2m wingspan. I did shorten the main wing root just to make it a little faster.

EPP wings. Fuse parts will be balsa core with epp sheets on each side.
Going to go with a thinner profile version of the fuse and motor sections.
Airfoil suggestions?
Thats awesome! The P-38 is my favorite plane and I have yet to have an rc version of one... haha Cant wait to see your build progress!
