Sequre 120A settings for speedy glider

Hi! I bought a used E-Typhoon (but Alpha 2.0 kit ready to go) with a NEU 1110/1Y 6.7 and a Sequre 120A and a 16x16 prop running on 4S. The ESC was a little hot on maiden. With my infared temp gun an indicated 140*F. So I went into the settings and was a bit overwhelmed with all the settings. What should some of these be set to? Duty, Sine???
Timing, recommended 5-10* for this motor.
PWM- Neu recommends 11-13khz but this esc only goes down to 16-24 I believe.- wrong esc for this motor? Does the firmware use the same values/khz?
Complimentary PWM- do I want that?
Poles-4.
Also, anyway to get telemetry on a Spektrum?

What values might need adjustment?

Pro tip- Do NOT use the "duty lock drag brake!"
 
@Wayne I tried to order some of your 25amp Orbit ESCs but they were out of stock. Any idea when they might be available?

In the meantime I ordered some of the 60amp units. I'll compare to the 70amp units I already have.

Actually we have a few, they weren't in the system. Go ahead and order.

@Jarron thank you. However, I'm unable to place an order. The button that would normally say "Add to Cart" is grayed out and says "Sold Out".

Let me know how to place the order. I'll grab three if you have three, or two if that's all you have. In terms of settings, I'd request that these be set-up for normal airplane mode (forward only), drag brake 50%, LVC 3.0v per cell. I am not aware of any other settings that need to be changed but if you are, please change them.

Also, quick question, given that I'm on Spektrum with pulse width 1100-1900, it is better to:
a) adjust the ESC so throt_low is 1100 and throt_high is 1900 OR
b) adjust the radio to output 1000 and 2000 as the low and high respectively

Or does it simply not matter, pulse width is pulse width, and all that matters is that the esc and radio are harmonized.

While we are here can you guys help me understand how these escs are apparently delivering equal or better performance vs escs that are almost 3x heavier? How is this even possible? Seems like magic.

Assuming this is true and holds up (I am optimistic so far based on limited testing) these escs should sweep the market and largely replace the older heavier escs (for most use case, not necessarily ALL use cases). The weight savings are massive!

I am talking about 1:1 equivalent use, ie no concessions for the new escs. Whatever we did (good, bad, abusive) to the old escs we should be able to do to these escs.

Basically Arseny, the designer is one of these rare folks that truly understands electronics far beyond what one might learn in school, and he is a very good programmer too. You would not think this is a rare set of qualities in this day and age, but it is. And even more so to be working in the hobby is VERY rare. I know of one other individual that I would put into this category, @MikeB. Mike's main focus has been on transmitters and the results of his work has very much shifted the entire RC hobby for the better. We now enjoy much more powerful radios that are packed full of features, and I contribute a lot of this to Mike's efforts.

When you get these sorts of individuals focusing on creating better solutions, the hobby eventually responds.

There are now several companies copying Arseny's designs. I guess that is a compliment. Some do it better than others. I forget who is copying the 25 amp, at first I was excited to see it, but then found out it was a direct copy, so we do not offer the copy. We pay a little more to support the original designer. Money well spent IMHO.

I will not pretend to be an ESC wizard, I am not. But I know a good one when I use it.

besides being a talented designer, he uses devices and technology which was not available 20 years ago.
State of the art MOSFET switches have very low series resistance , so that their power loss is smaller.
power dissipation is therefore reduced ,
Also , current and voltage specs are enhanced , etc...
