Sensor

I’m not sure if this has already been discussed. I am using an FRSKYX9D plus SE radio upgraded to the latest firmware. I have also upgraded my X8R receivers to the latest firmware. I am running on the AC CCST 16 protocol. I have two sensors which were purchased back in 2019 an Frsky liipo voltage sensor and a GPS sensor. When I go to find new sensors , the transmitter just keeps searching, they are connected to the smart port in the receiver. Do they need to be upgraded to new firmware and if so, does anybody know where to find it? Thank you.

It's not like every sensor needs new firmware, it totally depends on the sensor. You can look in the downloads section of the product on the FrSky-rc.com website to see if new firmware is available and what the changes were. It's unlikely that you need new firmware just to make it work.
If it doesn't work with one receiver, have you tried with another? Also, check with another servo-cable if it doesn't work.

I use the Taranis X9D, the X8R receiver, and the same voltage sensor plugged into the smart port. It shows up as A2. Works great!

I always ask this question, you are connected to the S-Port pin not the S-Bus port on the receiver, and you have gone to the Telemerty page and clicked on "Discover New sensors" tab ????

Thanks for the replies I have tried changing the cable, the receivers, and used my other frsky voltage and gps sensors as suggested. The radio (X9D+SE) and receiver (X8R) have both been upgraded to v2 which is the latest version of open tx. All that being said when going to discover new sensors all the tx does is search and not discover and sensors. The old protocol was ACCSS D-8 which worked fine now the protocol is ACCST D-16 ( I can no longer use ACCSS-D-8 because of the upgrade to the tx and rx ). I have read that they are suppose to work on both protocols using the smart port. When plugin the sensor into the balance port the battery voltage does show up on the sensor. Thanks

Upgrading the iXJT module with v2.1 has nothing to do with OpenTX firmware version. If you are missing D8 protocol you probably also upgraded OpenTX with the EU setting enabled in Companion (which disables D8 in OpenTX firmware). If that is the case, then disable the EU option in Companion and redownload the firmware, followed by flashing to the radio, will enable D8 again. But for the X8R you don't need D8 protocol.

Did you rebind your receivers to your radio after flashing the iXJT+Receivers? If not, try to rebind.
D16 should work just fine with sensors, maybe you have to remove all sensors from the model (in your transmitter that is), then do a re-discovery. Are you sure it's connected to the S-Port and NOT the S-BUS port?

If it still doesn't work, maybe post a picture of how it's all connected?

Also, you can install UNI firmware on your receiver. It is a better option for the X8R. Will this fix the sensor issue? No, I doubt it.

Please confirm the wiring and go from there. While the GPS sensor may not work with NEWER firmware (As I recall FrSky changed the GPS chip at some point) I'd fully expect the voltage sensor to work fine with any firmware versions.

These are old sensors, but should be fine.

One more thought - it has been a while since playing in OpenTX, but make sure you are bound with the telemetry ON. Are you getting any telemetry from the receiver?

After reading all of the replies which I am grateful for, I did some investigating and found that I do have both protocols ACCSS and ACCST when I wrote to the aloft technician and told him I could not bind to my receivers, he sent me an upgrade for my receivers, which I did and they no longer bind to a ACCSS protocol I’m sending a few pictures and a short video to show what’s going on. The radio is receiving telemetry because when they plug the battery, it shows up on the main screen.
It might be easier just to buy new sensors. My question is if I purchase one sensor can I use it on multiple airplanes, or can it only be bound to one receiver?

You can use sensors in multiple models, it's just something you need to setup on the radio with the model.

If you have receivers that worked with ACCESS protocol, but now only work with ACCST protocol, please let us know the exact types. There are receivers that supported both, but required reflashing to support one or the other. Archer Plus receivers support both ACCESS and ACCST, without reflashing. Archer receivers, without the Plus in the name, only support ACCESS.

Sounds like you are running UNI firmware on the X8R. This is a good solution.

Not sure why you are having this issue other than being plugged into the wrong port on the receiver. Your photo 6413 seems to show that it is properly connected.
