S6R and S8R configuration questions and concerns

Would like to thank Chris Morris at Aloft Hobbies for responding to my desperate e mail, like a knucklehead I loaded the wrong firmware, amazing how well this receiver works with the correct firmware
Just to flesh out the situation with Cobraone for reference to others that may have this issue. He wanted to update his receiver firmware so took the newest firmware that he saw. However this was the firmware for the new ACCST 2.x. His transmitter and receives were still on the legacy/original ACCST 1.0 (as it's not called) so the Tx and RX would not talk to each other. NOTE: The firmware for the transmitter module is independent of the version of OpenTX you are using. So -- Cobraone had two options. Either update ALL receivers and the TX to the ACCST 2.x. (which is a good idea but may be time consuming) OR -- keep the legacy ACCST and find the latest SxR that works with ACCST 1.0. Well -- FrSky had this firmware kinda hidden behind this link. https://www.frsky-rc.com/wp-content/uploads/Downloads/Firmware/S8R/FW-SxR-190531.zip
However in the event that link does not work Ihave attached the final version of firmware for ACCST 1.0 below.

Thank you Scott for the clarification, I guess I didn’t do enough research and assumed the newest software would be backwards compatible, I did decide to upgrade all the firmware

Has anybody tried running the 150mm Ipex4 dipole antennas on the SxR Rx's? Curious about RSSI range increase?

Scott Page, thank you for posting that older zip configuration file for the S6R. I haven't been able to bind one of my S6R receivers since I purchased it six months ago. I saw your post and thought I'd give it a try, low and behold, it worked like a charm. Now if I could only get the LUA to work on my 9D Plus SE.

I am trying to install a S8R that I moved from a plane that I sold a few months ago. On the old plane, the S8R was configured with quick mode disabled, and I remember that the servos would "dance" when powered up.
I downloaded from FrSky the latest V2.1 version of the firmware, and flashed it to the S8R. I also did a rebind, and went through the calibration LUA script.
I also used the LUA script to make sure the servos are set up correctly.

In the new plane (gasser), the S8R is connected to a channel expander via SBUS. Stabilization and knife edge seem to be working ok, but I cannot put the
S8R in self check mode. I tried pushing the FS button, and using a three-way switch on channel 12. No blue LED light to be seen.
In fact, with quick mode on, I do not see the blue LED at all.

As I said, in the air it seems to be working fine.

Also, I noticed that with the engine off, the yellow LED stays on. With the engine on (vibrations?) the yellow LED is flickering. Is this normal.

Radio is a X10S, running OTX 2.3.10.
thanks

I was able to put the rx on self check by making sure that the the channel is at -100%. Still, no dance of servos at power up.

On the S6R I never get dancing servos on power up. Only time they Dance is when it goes into calibration mode. Can't see why it would be different. Please keep us posted on your experience on a gasser. If you could can you post photos of your setup?

Hi all, quick question: is the set up for the archer line of receivers (SR6) same as the X series (S6R)? Same lua scripts work?

I have successfully set up a S6R already and like it a lot, but now have an ACCESS radio and want to move to the archer line going forward.

Thanks!

Check that you have selected the right lua script (there are two: 'FrSky SxR_R9S.lua' and 'SxR_R9S_Calibrate.lua').
However, the best advice I can give you is to check out ShondoRC on YouTube - he covers SxR setup in 2 video's: Rx setup and installation/calibration.
I have set up two S8R's with no problem, following his YouTube video instructions.
Interesting. I followed Shondo to a T as well. For some reason my dual rates do not work, neither does my self leveling switch. I’ve re flashed the S8R, checked all the settings. Question I have is how I set things up having 2 aileron servos on separate channels (one
One on channel 1; another on channel 5). If there is any information you can share, that would be great.

Sorry, no: I'm using a single aileron channel on my planes with S8R's. I may try to set up with separate channels just to check whether I have the same problem.

Using the LUA script on the Tx with the Rx powered and bound - you change Ch5 from AUX to AIL.

Just found my problem. In model setup page I did not select ch1-16 as lart
If the D16 setup. In error I selected ch1-8, so it affected a number of settings. Once I changed it to ch1-16, everything came to life. I also recalibrated the servos.
Thanks fir your help.

Hi everyone! I've got the Archer SR6. when configuring thru the LUA, what is the difference between the quick mode enabled and disabled? the instructions aren't clear.

Also, when trying to use the Airlink S for app config or pc config, is anyone else having issues connecting and configuring?

Yeah, I finally got LAU to work on my Taranis 9D+ 2019 SE. I had to update the FW to the latest and what a Pain in the Rear but it's finally working.

I have Walrus Glider, I plan to put S6R inside, which redundancy receiver will work with it? Since its going to go to some height (line of sight only) I dont want to take a chance and want to add another receiver

I have 2 receivers Archer( SR6, SR8). I was able to calibrate both receivers without any trouble. I set the transmitter to the correct channels in the mixer. Everything works correctly as far as Modes (Off, Stabilize, Auto Level). What does not work is the self Test. Moving the 3 position switch 3 times in 2 seconds does nothing! I have yet to see a blue led on either receiver. Stab swithch is in the OFF position. The throttle is at -100. What am I missing?
