RX8R-pro

Konrad

Very Strong User
Just learned via the product reviews that there is a problem with a production run of these RX8R-pro. How can one tell if I own any of these? I think I have about 1/2 a dozen still not used, from what may be an early production runs. I'm using one and it sems to be fine. But the others are still in their packaging.

Is there a production code one can read?

All the best,
Konrad

Any issues with the two you have? Like I said the one I'm using is fine. But I've been buying these on and off for the last 2 years. So I don't know if I've purchased any from the "bad" production run.

There has been one or two reports on some of the RC sites regarding incomplete solder flow around the PWM pins. Easy to inspect to see if yours is effected.

Is that the QA issue mentioned in the Aloft reviews? Yep, that would be easy to fix, as the end user.

All the best,
Konrad

I haven't experienced any issues. I am using them with the XM+ backup receiver on my 2 gassers. But right now I am not flying them until the ongoing issue with the firmware update happens.
I will check the solder joints too.

Maybe not so easy! It looks like a lot is going on between the two boards that needs hand soldering between the pins!

You can see that some of my NIB RX's have an inspector's blue mark and others don't. Also see that the pads on this side of the PCB don't have any solder on them. (I don't know if the pad on the other side is electrically the same as the pads on this side. Nore do I know if the farside pads have any solder connecting them the the Smart port pins).

It is looking like it is real close to needing to cut and run from FrSky. I just don't know where to turn for a system that has the power of OpenTX and the quality I (we should all) demand.

FrSky, please please get your act together!!!!

All the best,
Konrad

I here you! But I'm not so fast as to call it that yet. Those pins might be soldered to a pad on the back side of the PBC and by through plating might be electrically connected to the pad we see. But yes it looks like the design was to originally have these pads soldered to the pin fom this side of the PCB. Note the pad was masked from the green coating.
