RX6R bricked after FW update

Flying Dutchman

Strong User
I tried to update my RX6R (ACCESS) from 2.1.0 to 2.1.7, but right before the end (progress bar almost full) the process aborted. I don't recall the exact wording of the error. Tried to do it again, but now it refuses to even start the update. When I do, it shows the empty progress bar and "Device reset...", red LED blinks once, "FW update error, Not responding, [EXIT]", and that's it. Tried to Register or Bind, just in case the previous FW might still be working, but nada.

Tried to reload 2.1.0 (ACCST), but get the same messages. Interestingly, the ACCST 2.1.1 update has an option to "write to external module" which I also tried; it does a complete write, with an encouraging "Flash Successful" message at the end, but still no bind possible.

Is it bricked, or is there a way to revive it?

Using a QX7 ACCESS (2.1.6) connected with the S.Port cable that came with the Rx. Plug polarities are correct, the update seemed to go fine, until it didn't. Rx ran fine before the update attempt.

It turns out that I had accidentally used the general Archer 2.1.7 FW instead of the RX6R-specific 2.1.7 FW, so my fault.
I saw a "2.1.7" file in the FIRMWARE folder on my Tx, and assumed that was the right one, as I had used it to update a few GR8, M+ and R6 Rx's.
Odd that they would use the same version # for two different updates...

So Aloft guys, or anyone else who may know, what do you think - bricked or not?

I did, and nothing but a red LED. As I mentioned, the only thing I could "successfully" flash onto it was that ACCST 2.1.1 update, using the option to "write to external module", but that didn't work either. And after that, tried both ACCST and ACCESS updates again, but no joy.

I think it is possible that is now bricked. Can't brick the transmitters, but think you can manage to kill the receivers. We have run across a few we could not bring back.. Sorry, more bad news

Wow, that's a trap, same version numbers and same date!
There is only one version of the "RX6R 2.1.7". I don't think there is such a thing as "general" firmware. But make sure the FW is for the RX6R and NOT for the Archer-X 2.1.7.frsk

While the Archer FW is an ACCeSS protocol it will not work with the RX6R to bring the RX6R to ACCeSS protocols.

In the download tab for the RX6R ACCeSS you will find the FW that does allow the RX6R to run the ACCeSS protocols "RX6R_ACCESS_2.1.7.frsk"
