RX Lithium power (an electronic question not an electric aircraft question)

Konrad

Very Strong User
Can’t find a logical place to ask this question on Aloft’s forum. This is not an electric model question rather an electronic /radio question. I see a lot of this type of question end up in the electrics part of the airplane section.

What are you guys doing for lithium RX batteries of this form factor? It looks like everybody is out of stock and has been for a long time.

Konrad - just email us, we can make these for you, but I think I am nearly out of 18650 cells right now. Just placed a large order for more and also getting some new sizes like the 14500 (think AA size). We have the welding gear, zinc and shrink-wrap to produce these and have done a few here and there. We had planned to roll out our new custom battery options, but then Covid hit and man hours have not allowed us to do so on a big scale. But we have built a number of packs for the locals now. We do a double weld and all wires are soldered to the welded tabs. Or if you like, we can let you build your own. It is kind of fun.

We should have our new stock of cells in about 2 weeks, maybe sooner.

Fantastic!

I've never liked the idea of soldering on the battery button as this ofern damages the vent. If you have the spot welder that is great as they really do stress the cell a lot less than a soldering iron, even one with a large heat sink. So if your guys find the time I'd like to order two. I will place a formal order through your site contacts.

Now the other half of the post how about a forum heading for electrical issues. It is baffling to me to see this under Electrical Aircraft

All the best,
Konrad
