Reconnecting Back Module Ribbon Cable

Has anyone had any luck re-connecting the back panel on an X14 (at least) radios?

I got over-ambitious when cleaning sand out of the unit and now I can't use my MULTI-module, uh, module.

I spent a long time trying to get the little connector part back in but I just couldn't do it. I duct taped it in place, and while the module gets power, nothing else works.

It's a pretty frustrating experience. I was already really disappointed with how easily sand got into the transmitter and affected the controls. Are other FrSKY transmitters this vulnerable to sand intrusion?

This style connector usually has a slide lock on them. I'm not sure if you know that or not. Heck, not sure you can unplug them without unlocking first. To lock or unlock there is a little plastic part that slide towards or away from the connector. At least that is what I think I am looking at. I have not had that radio apart to confirm this.

Yes, sand gets into pretty much all radios! Keep the radio in the travel case when not in use. Avoid standing infront of the travel case or radio when at the slope as the wind will blow all of the sand right into the radio. Etc etc.. Slope is very hard on radios. We will see issues no one else ever has with the radios.

I slid that little part out and now I can't get it back in. Sometimes that securing bit doesn't come all the way off (it moves up or pivots), not sure if I just busted this off or if it was supposed to come off. I taped that little piece to the inside of the transmitter so I wouldn't lose it, I'll open it up and try again at some point.

I was using it with a BNF electric (Ultra Stick 1.1m.) Maybe this thing just became a buddy box for my kid, who knows.

Well, can send it into Frsky for repair. They might have some spare clips, but I doubt it. I don't think they come off, just slide, but again I have not been inside that model of radio.

Some of the little clips now are a hinge type. They kind of lever up and down...
That is almost what it looks like in your picture. Maybe try to gently fold it down on the ribbon.
Just a thought.
