Reconfiguring a regular channel to function as a smart port?

Minimoa-2

New User
I damaged the smart port on top of one of my Frsky receivers, and was just wondering if it's possible to reconfigure an unused channel to function as a smart port.
Thanks,
Mark

Basically quick way is to grab a copy of the instructions for your receiver and check them out. A few of the newer receivers can change the outputs to different uses. I do not recall which units.

To add additional S-Ports. In the bind section go to the RF page and then to the bind section, the receiver must be bound, click on setup and select options, in this menu you can make a spare channel into a number of other functions including a S-port. Select the pin number on the receiver. This only works with some Access receivers.

I'm pretty sure this feature got added with the Archer Plus receivers. It is also available on the Tandem receivers.

Believe it or not, I'm STILL unable to assign my unused channel 6 to be a Smart Port. This was to get away from using the dedicated smart port on top of my Frsky TD R6 (Tandem) receiver and to get away from using those special wires. I've done everything that was recommended: Went into RF system, clicked on the bind ("RX1 TDR6"), selected Options, turned on telemetry, Turned off Telemetry 25mW (I also don't understand how to decide on the correct Power option for telemetry or for the receiver in general at 900M), under "Telemetry Port" I selected S.Port (options were S. Port, F. Port, and FBUS), Then under Pin 6 (Ch6), when I clicked on the dropdown I got a list of all possible channels, but no selection for S. Port. Am I supposed to set up a mix or something for Channel 6? Like I said, it's an unused but active port on my setup. I have AETR for channels 1 through 4, then channel 5 is used for my flight stabilizer. I'm using the latest firmware version for my TD R6 (just uploaded it tonight): FW-TDR6-1.0.13.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Wait a minute - maybe I have this all wrong. Does the Frsky Tandem TD R6 receiver only let you reassign the S. Port on top of the receiver to F Port or F Bus? I was thinking that you could reassign the S. Port telemetry signal to one of the normal PWM channels (like my free channel 6), and thus avoid the S. Port connector on top of the receiver altogether.
