Radio service available?

Hey Wayne. Been a while. Checking in to see if you guys are doing service again since the move. My Taranis XD9 plus needs a main board replaced ( the right side navigation button) has failed in the board. I've replaced the radio ( i have 3) but it was my favorite.
Thanks

I would replace the failing switch (or all of them) instead of replacing the whole mainboard. I did the same on two of those switches myself, but I'm experienced with electronics and soldering. I used hot-air soldering station with small nozzle and a small screwdriver to put very little pressure between the switch and the board to get the switch(es) out. After that I used a soldering iron with fine tip, desoldering braid, some fresh solder and electronics flux to clear the holes of leftover solder. Then soldered the new switches in. But if it's not your cup of tea, then let someone else more experienced do it for you.

The switches are cheaper and easier to get than the mainboard (if even still available).

BTW, it might also be that the switchcover is misaligned a bit and causing the switch(es) to misbehave, I had to glue mine in before I had to replace the switches (I used some hotglue on the edges of the switchcover). The switchcover was available in the past as a replaceable part, not sure if it still is.

I don't know if Aloft does this kind of repairs (replacing mainboard switches).

Aaron - We are no longer performing radio service here at Aloft as FrSky in Brea Calif. is doing a good job on this front. But if needed, yes, we can certainly dig into this for you. I'd agree that a switch replacement is going to be the better option. Getting pretty hard to locate full mainboards for the Taranis anymore. Out of production for a few years now.

I assume the issue is not caused by the "switch tree"? I mention this as it is the most common issue on the older X9D, but you say this is a PLUS, so no tree in that one. :)

@Taranafobe what exactly does "failed" mean? I had pushed too hard on one of the buttons and broke it. The 3 black buttons are actually a single piece of plastic that is held in place by two posts that are melted into a mushroom like shape. I fixed mine by re-melting the post.

Thanks Wayne. The actual trouble is one switch (navigation) is dead. If it is possible to buy just the button switch pot and solder it in myself is doable but I would rather pay a professional to do it if possible. Do you stock the switch? It lookes like you have the board (naked) in stock but the switches dont show on the picture
Thanks Aaron.

We used to stock the switches but no longer have any in stock. You will be best off with FrSky Brea for this repair. They should have the parts and skills. I think this is their email:
NAService@frsky-rc.com
