Prime RES 3 update

Almost there. Kit arrived from Aloft on August 13th. Just need to touch up the covering. Adjust the interior electronics and do a W/B. Fingers crossed it comes out close. This glider has a hatch on top and bottom. Servos are mounted upside down to give more room for battery, esc and receiver. Front of fusalage is widened a few millimeters so I could fit in a Dualsky 2325 canned outrunner with the wires coming out the back 👍. Probably maiden next week. Then I plan to make new hatches. Their design is way too flimsy. Next build AH-100 😃

Looks great! If she flies half as nice as you built here, she will be fantastic!

Hope your flights have gone well. Mine is fully framed and awaiting covering -- did you use the Aloft covering (very affordable !) or Ultracote lite ?
My BIG problem is finding a motor ! It is obviously designed around a Dualsky motor and it costs to ship one of those into the USA. Aloft suggests a Dualsky but do not have that version in their inventory ?
Anyone else have thoughts on a suitable motor, that physically will fit ? Can use 2 or 3S packs and was planning an 8 x 4 folder.

This is the Dualsky I used in mine. Works great but I widened the nose when I built in anticipation of this motor. If your fuselage is complete it might not fit. Perhaps ask Wayne about the new spinners with the motor inside. That might be ideal.
Yes I always use Aloft covering. Some colors work better than others but cant beat it for the price.
One thing I will mention is that the hatch on the bottom is a bad idea. Mine popped off on every landing. I just taped over it. Both hatches are a poor design and very fragile. I built new ones. Let us know how your maiden flight goes.

And here are a couple of pics of the motor during the build.

Early next year we will start restocking the Dualsky motors, and some of their other products too.

We will have a new motor in a spinner that will probably be suitable for this, but it is probably a month away, and that one will have to go through some testing as I suspect we will need to make that one from aluminum.

OK, will have to wait for new stock of Dualsky I guess before flying this one as still have not found an equiv motor that is available.
Aloft Expert --- do the elevator horns mount on top or underneath on the V-tail version ? Is there a preferred location ? Will be using ball links on control horns. Presumable one cuts slots in the carbon tube for the control cables to exit en route to the horns ? Any novel way to support the pushrods as they travel down the tube from servo to exit point at tail end ?
Tmcfarland --- will be checking the hatches, based on your concerns.

Thanks much, Barry. Florida
