Original Taranis X9d

New User
I have the original X9d. The main switch will turn on the unit but will not allow any of the programs to work and will not allow the unit to turn off.
Anyone have this problem and what is the cause. Battery is fully charged. It has not been used for about a year. It is kept in the original aluminum case it came in.

Thanks but that is not possible as it worked perfectly when it was put away and hasn't been touched since.

Gary
Sounds like it, maybe, has the wrong firmware on it...
Is it possible for the firm ware to die during storage?
Gary

Probably not, are you surethat the battery is still good? It may be giving enough to start, but sags enough to mess with things...?

Is the radio kept clean, or is it subject to a lot of dirt or grime? If dirty, the switch could be contaminated.

What is the state of the CR1220 RTC battery inside the radio? Does the radio display the proper time and date?

The radio was stored in the original aluminum case and is very clean.

There is no way to know as the only screens that comes on are the welcome screen and the Boot loader screen, nothing more.
I have been told all the CR1220 battery does is run the clock and calendar.

If you have never changed that battery, it will be dead. Also if you have never updated the firmware in this radio, it is for sure due. Many bug fixes and added features.

We could take a look at the radio, but no guarantees it will come back to life.

Ah, it wasn't clear what was working and what was not. You could try to re-flash OpenTX to the radio with Companion when the radio is turned OFF. You might need to install Zadig or ImpulseRC DriverFixer to have it recognized though. It could also be that the NVRAM is corrupted and needs to be reset. Hopefully you have a backup of your models and settings.

If you don't know how to do it or are not experienced with flashing OpenTX, then sending to Aloft might be your best bet.

Wayne,
Aloft did some work on it several years ago and updated it to 2.1.9 .
The bootloader will come on screen but neither of the options do anything they are "Write Firmware" and "Restore EEPROM" The keyboard will not work.

The Trans was stored late last year due to medical issues. It worked fine and was stored in the original aluminum case. I brought it out about a week ago to find the above. It has a 3 cell lipo battery at 9.9 volts.

What do you charge to trouble shoot it? I would like it updated to the highest level while still on ACCST if possible

Will you be getting anymore FrSky Taranis X9 Lite S ?

Ahh, my old memory is coming back to me..

Do the buttons on the right of the screen feel normal when you push them? Do they have a click feel to them?

As I recall a stuck button here will cause issues on the older radios.

We do not charge for trouble shoot. Shipping charges kind of suck though. :( We pretty much can't get major parts for the old radios anymore.

Yes, we can get in some more X9 Lite S, probably be a week.

If updating ACCST to V2, you may want to send us all of your receivers so they can be updated too. We will put UNI on any that are compatible FrSky on the rest. (UNI is a much better solution, works identically to stock.)

Wayne,
I will send my X9D, receivers, and a DJT module. I am assuming that all the features of my original X9D will still be functional. Will this firmware allow use of any Access receivers? Let me know if you need any specific address info on package.

I was able to get the Trans to work but looks like some memory may be gone as well as some other questionable issues.

I will put a list of the issues I found after getting it running.

Thanks,
Gary

Wayne,
I checked stock on the side sliders and noticed stock is down to only 2 pair left. I just ordered 1 set and will install before sending the trans to you for the firmware update.

Gary

Sorry - ACCESS would require a transmitter replacement. There was no way to update the older transmitters to support ACCESS. Everything else should remain the same.

Wayne,
I received the sliders today but they are missing the smaller plug that goes into the SF and SH switches. Dou have the small plugs?
Can I just ship them with the trans so you can install when you update the firmware?
