Thought I'd share that our newest venture is about to launch, I have added a page to the sales website to help announce that we are close to release. You can find that here:
alofthobbies.com
While we are showing a price of just $40 on that page, I fully expect our actual sales price will be lower.
This will be a fully legal Remote ID unit that can simply be powered by your receiver, so no new workload for a flight. Turn on the radio, and the Remote ID simply does it's thing.
Optionally, it can also be powered by a small dedicated battery (upto 8.4 volts), making it a standalone system that can be moved from plane to plane.
The focus of the RID1 is to meet all FAA/FCC requirements and enjoy super simple operation. If that was not enough we will do our best to make these super affordable.
Aloft had no intention of getting into the Remote ID market. We planned to stock a good unit for our customers, but then I saw the prices. Wow, what gives? The receiver in your plane is a more complex unit, so why do these cost so much? Well, turns out we all know that answer.
It is time for a company to offer a high quality unit that is smaller and lighter and costs a fraction as much! And that is exactly what we are doing.
Hope you will tell your friends as we would like to make a splash in the market with these.
Thanks!

Warning here comes a rant:
The FAA taylored this Remote ID requirement to meet their needs, but with a big focus on keeping it very simple and low cost so it would not have a big impact on the hobby community. So why do we see people paying $100 or more for them? How is it that a little company in California can bring out a device that can do everything needed for a fraction of the cost? Even the "good guys" that promised to help the community with their offering seem to be ripping off the community. I don't get it.Aloft had no intention of getting into the Remote ID market.
