Opinions please DHT vs. XHT

Good morning all and thank you for any feedback. I have been using the DHT DIY module in one of my MP8K transmitters for a number of years now and believe I bought it from Aloft back when they were offered. I also have the XHT module sitting in its packaging still not used. Should I replace the DHT with the XHT or just put it in another transmitter (MP8K) that I have.? or just forget it and move onto the FrSky X18 and start anew.? I still like my old Ace Micropro's and know how to program them but of course they are without some of the more modern features. Thanks for any opinions and food for thought feedback.

With the saturation of the 2.4gHz band (5G)I would definately dump the DHT protocol (D8)! I loved the MP8K in its day, a very powerfull radio. Not knowing your RF enviroment or your flexibility to learn a new programing language, recommending a move a way from the MP8k to the X18 might not be fair.

But I will be making the jump to the Tandum RF link we get with the X18. This means I'll need to learn Ethos and change my RX's to Tandum to gain the full advantage of the X18. (I think the X18 will still support the single band 2.4 gHz protocols of ACCST v.2.1.xx and ACCESS V 2.1.xx. So no need to scrap your D-16 RX's. But I don't think the X18 will support your D-8 protocol). Well not without an external TX RF module.

I think vintage radios are cool, but if you are considering the X18, then I would encourage you to jump in that direction. The programming will be an easy learning curve and the new features are well worth the effort.
