Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my latest project — a new flying wing build that I’ve been working on.
It’s a 600 mm (almost 24 inches) wingspan balsa build, with a few 3D printed parts integrated into the design. I tried to keep things simple, lightweight, and easy to assemble/disassemble.
The wing is removable and held together using two 4 mm carbon fiber rods, with a neodymium magnet in the center section keeping everything securely in place. So far, it feels solid but still very convenient for transport.
I’m running just two servos, mounted on PETG 3D printed brackets. The plan is to use inexpensive servos like the 1440A — the same ones we’ve already used successfully on the Silly Stick.
The vertical stabilizer is mounted at the center supported by one of the carbon rods, which adds some extra rigidity to the structure.
I still don’t know the final weight, and honestly… I’m not even sure if it’s going to fly yet
Still need to finish the assembly and get it ready for the maiden flight.
I’ll post updates once I get it in the air (or crash report… hopefully not!).
Let me know what you guys think or if you have any suggestions!
