New TJIRC 2.5m Wazzup build

OB? This was on Texel, small island at the north of the Netherlands.
LOL. I was pretty close, though... You have to admit.

I've looked at the dunes at OB and I think it might be flyable. I'll take my Ahi out there when there's a bit of wind and check it out.

So finally initiated the build. It is on the build table! A few beginning shots.

I am not going to cross the pushrods, no.
Just underneath. KST X10’s fit perfectly. Right into the premade servo mounts.
Her are some more pics of my slow going build. I build in my spare time. Ot
Much with all the hobbies I have. LOL. Love using JB quick weld for this. (Learned this from Bruce Tebo!)
Servo pockets are a bit crooked. Not squared to moving surfaces. Would have liked them lined up to have pushrods and everything looking square. Good quality though!

Hello Eric,
Thank you for checking in. No, still on my build table. My family has been going through a hard time this past year with a lot of different health issues which has kept me busy between my wife's family and mine. I haven't been motivated. :( I haven't even been flying much at all these past 1.5 years. Maybe 5-6 times?

Ok, some progress. I have one wing done and the other one just about done. Family issues are ongoing and keeping me from even flying. I actually have more time to build, than to fly. I have flown maybe 6-7 times this year? :( That includes the 3 day Camp n Fly weekend!

So finished the second wing! Woot! LOL. Great quality, but one small thing I noticed would make this kit a bit better would be having a taller flap pushrod mount (the correct word is slipping my mind at the moment, LOL) rather than the exact same size as the aileron one. Once you grind out the flap it sits way too low not allowing you not to get a full pull. You have to compensate a bit with a taller servo arm. This still does not give a good pull on the flap as it should. The flap wing root is thicker than the aileron so it sits down further than the aileron one does, but it still needs more height coming out from the flap surface. I like my flaps as close to 90 as I can get.
Ok. Moving on to the fuse!
Jeremy

I'd have to confirm with a little playing around, but I think you might be able to flip the control horn on the flap "backwards" and get the throws you want, or push it further away from the hinge.

Are the controls suposed to run in the wind over the bottom of the wing, and not through it in the normal fashion?

It looks like if the controls went through with top horns then it would not be too hard with a bit of normal fiddling to get good flap travel.

You dont often see moulded models with control rods exposed. Unusual.

Doc.

Actually still rather normal to see exposed control horns. On this model it is up to the builder if they want to run internal or external.

Aha - gotcha. Shows you how much I know.

I suppose thats true of any moulded model actually - Especially if the horns are not pre fitted.

Does make for an easy fit out job though!

Cheers,

Doc.
