Need Internal RF module firmware file for X12S

Well, I made the mistake of trying to upgrade my Horus X12S internal RF module to ACCST v2.1 from v1.x.

I read on the forums where there can be issues with ACCST v1.x and I have had a few times where I've lost control of a model for a period of time, so I thought I'd make the switch and upgrade my X12S and receivers. Yes, I know this is an old radio and I'm behind the times. :-)

FIrst, I upgraded OpenTX to v2.3.15 and that went well and everything worked great, so I thought I'd next do the upgrade to the internal RF module to ACCST v2.1. I downloaded the file "IXJT_ACCST_2.1.0_FCC.frk" from here: https://www.frsky-rc.com/horus-x12s/. Next, I copied the file to the firmware folder on the SD card and flashed it to the internal module. When I boot up the radio and look at my bind options, it seems like I got the wrong firmware. It looks like I got the ISRM module firmware with ACCESS. This isn't right, so I tried to downgrade the module using a firmware file I found on an OpenTX thread on RCGroups "IXJT_ACCST_1.6.06_FCC.frk". This file seemed to flash, but when booting into OpenTX, the bind screens were the same as with the new firmware. See below.

So I'm guessing that I loaded the wrong firmware into the module and messed it up. Does anyone have a link to the right firmware for the X12S RF module that I can flash in Open TX? If so, I'd really appreciate your help because I've basically got a X12S brick right now. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Well, I figured out what I did wrong. I'm a dumb a@#. I included the "Internal Access" parameter in my build of OpenTX. I thought that this allowed for writing to the internal RF module. It really allowed for ISRM RF module firmware with ACCESS. When I removed this parameter and downloaded and flashed the updated firmware, all was well.

This really shouldn't be this hard...

Thanks Wayne. I've been on a deep dive for the last few days getting this all figured out. I've got quite a few models to convert to either ACCST v2.1 or UNI.

With receivers running UNI firmware, is there an advantage with the transmitter running ACCST 2.1 vs. ACCST v1?

Also, if a transmitter is running ACCST 2.1 is there an advantage using receivers running UNI vs. v2.1 firmware?

Thanks for all you do to support this hobby Wayne.

Best regards,

Bill Sanford
