It's a beautiful Xmitter and I can't wait to use it. Call me "old school", but I need some kind of instructions. The better the instructions. the happier I am. So much so, that I recently purchased another transmitter by a different manufacturer just because of its reputation, (been around for a while), and the fact that it came with nice 98 page manual. Within a couple of hours, I had my new plane set-up.
I'm not giving up on my Taranis, though. The guys at the flying field, mostly use FrSky equipment and love it. They suggested that setting up a Taranis is easy if you do it in a step by step manner in the correct order. Does this setup protocol exist in a printed form. I've looked, but haven't been able to find it. I really hope I don't have to learn Open TX. Anybody have any suggestions?

Here is a link to what I use. Hope it helps.

Hank

Would that Taranis Plus OpenTX manual also be useful for the X7? The X7 manual has been unavailable for a long time, and I would really like something to flip through, instead of searching YouTube videos or OTU and RCdiy.

Yes in general. Some buttons may be replaced by scroll wheels - but minus the minutia it's all the same.

Thanks for the comments folks. Okay, I'll quit whining and order that X9 manual. On my way to Aloft as we speak.

The X7 manual will actually be the better manual as it will show the same info on the screen as the X9 Lite. We will have an updated version very soon:

I think they may be lost in shipping. :(

We will probably add the X9 Lite to the next version of this manual. But basically all of these radios display the same info on the screens. I call these the small LCD radios from FrSky.

Yea! Just as I was ready to place my order for the 'Plus' manual, I received a "Products back in stock alert" for the X7 manual. Only 3 available, so I ordered mine immediately. Hope Aloft can do their usual fast shipping magic, so I can some light reading this weekend. Almost getting too hot flying here in AZ.

Yeah, we had a few left on the shelf. That is the older version, but will be fine for you. :)

That's when you have a minimum of logic and pattern recognition though, the bar is low, but...
At some point we changed a screen title from "custom functions" to "special functions". The entire screen is identical but we had people saying they were stuck for days because they couldn't find the "custom functions" screen, completely blocking on the first word on the screen and completely unable to figure out that everything else was the same and recognise that it must be the same thing... I would expect such people to also be unable to recognise the same screen on 2 different screen sizes

Truly amazing: I placed my order around noon on Wednesday, and it just arrived (noon Friday) here in Scottsdale, AZ. Kudos to Aloft, and also to USPS - the standard shipping option worked perfectly. Give my regards to your crew, Wayne.
Time to start reading that manual now...

Will do. Shipping is always a top priority here. Every single employee starts off with shipping, this way we can all step in as needed.

One of the reasons I started Aloft was frustration of waiting months for gliders I had ordered for myself and my slope buddies. Then it took months to get my money back. This incident and several similar slow orders helped me shape what I wanted to do with Aloft Hobbies.

I've had about a dozen orders from various Chinese suppliers (and still have some open) and they're all massively delayed from the usual, so that case seems to be exception and not the norm.

Wow guys, thanks for all the input on setting up my Taranis Lite Transmitter. I ordered and received myX9D Manual. Its beautiful. It's an enjoyable and informative read and I'm learning more every minute. As an operating manual for my Taranus transmitter it"s better than any online video I've encountered and more importantly I'm learning why Taranis is so admired and I'm learning in great detail all the features FrSky RC equipment has and I'm only 20 pages into the manual. Thanks again.
