Mussel Rock was close to a 10/10 today

Oh man, the winds today at the dunes at Mussel Rock were on fire today. I didn't bring out my anemometer, but I'd guess around 15mph due west. It was so freakin' fun and the best day I've had since I've gotten back in the hobby. Not really gusty at all, just very steady, smooth winds in the right direction. It was so freakin' fun and the only thing that woulda made it better would have been to have some of you guys out there today. I know I'm lucky that I work a weird schedule and will have some weekdays off, but we gotta have a meet-up out there sometime. It's really beautiful and when the winds are good you can't really beat it. Granted, the LZ isn't the BEST, but it's not the worst either. I've never damaged my Ahi landing there but that's not saying a whole lot.

I think I'm going to maiden my Jester there sometime soon but when I do that I definitely want some buddies with me as I may need a little guidance landing it. I know it's fairly indestructible but there's no real way to slow it down besides just getting into a strong headwind and hopefully slowly stalling it to the iceplant without cartwheeling the crap out of it.

Another stellar day at Mussel Rock Dunes with my trusty co-pilot and birthday boy, Duke, who turned 4 today. Winds ranging from about 13-16mph according to my meter. All the cobwebs are officially dusted off after decades of being away from the hobby. Good times.

Nice day at Mussel Rock.
Today, Dave and I had the chance to maiden two airplanes at Mussel Rock,

Ron's U2 , now with ailerons and a taller compensated rudder.
Dave maidened his Jester pitcheron.

besides that , I flew a Radian sloper , without motor and its heavy battery, reducing the AUW by 200g , and spoilers.
Also flew my lightened Weasel.

Thanks, Jure. You've been there for my two maiden flights. I appreciate the help! The Jester has great flight characteristics and is REALLY slippery. Barely any drag on that thing with the lack of any hinges and a really tight canopy. The landing at Mussel Rock was pretty tricky as I am unable to scrub any speed. I have a plan for next time where I'm going to come up the bluff gaining elevation from below and then pop over the ridge and then do a tight turn into the wind. I don't know if there's really any other option at a place like that. Luckily the plane is all carbon and so it can take a beating if things go wrong. I think that this plan should work, though. Thanks for the vid.
