Mini Q

I leave mine in the plane. They only have a little carbon tow used in key areas of these models. If you look inside you can see some where it is not against the black paint. I have never had an issue with carbon tow messing with reception, but I fly FrSky and it is far better than some other brands to start with. Best to keep the active part of the antenna away from the tow.

I kept my antennas inside. I left one in the fuse, and for the second (diversity rx), I drilled a small hole in the tail fin and fed it into that.

Balanced at 23mm. So when I add the propellor blades I'll be ever so slightly nose heavy. Good enough for the maiden. Hopefully next week Friday...

Don't mess with the CG - nail it. These planes are not very tolerant of the CG being off more than about 2mm.

Maiden went great, but she was very squirrelly! After a few circuits I landed, and moved the battery 2mm forwards, lowered the rates, and increased the Expo (which stood at 0%...)
By now the wind had picked up, and was much stronger, with serious gusts. A very short flight, just to make sure we had it right. Seemed much better now, but we'll try again when the wind is more agreeable.
Definitely not underpowered, even on a 3S setup. Launched at 3/4 throttle and never needed more!

Hello everyone. I'm new. please tell me is the Corona DS 239MG servo suitable for the mini Q aircraft?
Hmm, I'd suggest something smaller and with no gear play. Here is a couple of options:

Best:

Pretty good:

The first option is $40 each, and the second is just $13.75.

If you have the Corona already, check and see if they will fit. I think the 10mm thickness is starting to push out, and the overall size might be a tough fit for the servo bay.

I have just received my MiniQ glider. As note in earlier posts, the servo well is positioned so that the pushrod will be parallel to the flight direction. However, the wing is swepped slightly forward, so the elevon hinge is not at 90 degrees with the flight direction.
If I install the servo square inside the well, the pushrod will be at a small angle with the elevon hinge line. Would that be a potential problem?

I could ofcourse install the servo at an angle in the well so the pushrod will be at a 90 degrees angle with the elevon line, but not parallel with the flight direction...

Any thoughts on this? Or am I overthinking too much?
Yes for Shūr, best way is to respec perfect angle with eleron line even if not parallel to flight direction!! Drag increase is very less compared to the gain optened by perfec flight control instalation.

Ok, so I've learned the CG should be around 23mm from the LE at the root. Now, what do you guys do with the antennas? Is there carbon in the wing?
only some pach at the servo emplacment, al the rest of the fram is in fiberglass. Personaly my antena are inside the fram, no need to put them outside.

Just started flying my mini Q. Super fun on the slope. Used kst 08h for little extra torque. Threw in elevator compensation on throttle stick to trim at speed. Otherwise the faster it fly’s the more it pulls up on its own. This substantially increases speed envelope. Came out 12.8 oz. The tail is fragile especially on landing. Work and trim to get a proper fit then reinforce top and bottom with clear packing tape where it meets fuse. Great fun and reasonable price. There are a bunch of them flying at The Point of the Mountain in Utah. Super fun with a gaggle of them ripping around. Ted

Excellent. Interesting about the speed pull up. If anyone needs a new tail, just let me know, we can order some in.

Has anyone made a replacement tail fin from correx to reduce back end weight of you did how did it fly?
Many thanks rct

Not that I am aware of. It flies great with the stock tail. She builds out to a good weight for this model.

Got mine ready to maiden. Thanks for the CG and reflex values! Mines in at 305g bare/505g with 4s3000 JP30, 6s Talon35A, Newbee 2306.5/1850kv on APC 6x5.5. 30A@425W and hovers 15min at 50% throttle. 900g thrust. 2650mA used.

When she's needing more oomph.... drop in a 6s550hv and put on a 5x6.5 prop....435g AUW and 900w for @4:1 thrust. Crazy, but only @400mA capacity to play with...meh

Nice setup! In my experience, the miniq is so slippery, it doesn't need 6 inch of diameter to grip, it is happy with 5 inch... APC do a 5x7.5, which will give a lot more speed with similar amps as the 6x5.5.

Hoping for an electric motor setup recommendation that can be combined with a folding prop. Regarding prop & spinner combo, I don’t mind spending some extra money on a quality combo that folds back nice and streamlined, if it’s available. Basically the fastest setup for a folding prop.
Ideally I’m hoping this plane can be fun on the flatland, but also fly on the slope. Will try to keep it fairly light with the battery choice.
Any thoughts would be helpful.

Bought the white version from Aloft. Great looking plane.
