I downloaded the E-soar template and it's absolutely brilliant for the X20 and ETHOS... There are so many mixes, curves and logic switches used it makes my head spin. Since I primarily fly gliders this is pretty much all I need to clone and tweak for my different models.. Outstanding work that must have taken months to document and implement.

Where does one find Mike Shellie’s templates for both Ethos and open Tx?
Thinking about starting with an open Tx template of his as a basis for programming my 10x express for a new full house Samsara I am now unboxing.
Still have two tattered Zagis in my workshop. First foam wing I ever flew and definitely first covering job with colored packing tape!

Clearly the reference is lost on you…..A what???He does have a lot of simplified templets that might be more appropriate for less demanding models running on less than 7 primary channels

That guilty pleasure statement leads you to think I don’t know what a Zagi is? The Zagi I know is a cut foam and tape combat model flying wing that infested most slopes in the 90’s. Using the E-Soar templet on a Zagi looks like a radio memory wasted, that could be used for more models in the radio.Clearly the reference is lost on you…..

I think Mike has an Excel file included in his down loads for most of his templates that often make it easier to follow the programming logic he is using. I find this very helpful when making modification or trying to pull out features for my own programming.
BTW: His user manual is fantastic!

Tic is famous from the old days for his Zagi rants. Nice to see him here, I used to enjoy this Zagi tirades all in good fun. It was my way of welcoming him here, which he acknowledged.

I know Tic well. We also have a long and positive history. I too am glad to see him here on Aloft’s forum. I was just joining in on the fun of Zagi bashing. No hidden agenda. And to soften the statement I did say that the Zagi is a guilty pleasure for most of us from back in the day.

Don’t get me wrong I love Mike’s programs. But they are a level or two above the simple entry level tools. He does write some programs that shows off the elegance of OpenTX (and I assume Ethos). Now by the same measure using a 6 channel glider is not where one should be trying to deal with any new radio program. But if you systematically go through the manual you will be able to get a model that actually works and works well. Heck, even I got his templets to work and I hate bits and bites!
Now I come from the 1990 Multiplex Profi 4000mc this is one of the first, and to my mind logical, programs based on output mixer, much like OpenTX. Not master and slave architecture seen in the Futaba JR and Airtronics radios. I never could get my ming around the restricive limitation I have to deal with on my Spektrum DX9. The DX9 seems adiquate for most UMX type models but when it comes to some of the nuances we see in Mike’s OpenTX templets, Spektrum might as well be a stone age tool!
