Master Builder at Work

I've been following this guy from Estonia for years. His projects just keep getting better and better. This giant scale PT-17 with a radial engine is his masterpiece. This is his flight video and previous videos in the series include detailed descriptions of its construction. He uses just about every automation tool to which we modelers have access. He mixes laser cutting, 3D printing, metal forming, use of fiber composites and more. I wish I had half his toolkit. It's a beautiful thing to behold.

However, I like Nuvamig even more - he uses simpler techniques (which I have *some* hope of emulating), he publishes plans, cut-files, and 3d parts, and above all, he is a member of my church: "The Church of Lightness Above All" (meaning, he ultra-optimizes for insanely light airframes).

The type of foam Numavig uses for building does not seem to be available at Homedepot or Lowes in So cal. Do you know a source?

I don't.

However, I wonder if standard dollar tree foam board with the paper removed from both sides (or even left intact, strategically, for strength in certain areas) would work well enough. I have been messing around with DTFB foam a lot lately, and it seems promising.

Separately, I ordered some Depron kits from Germany. I'd never had real Depron in hand, and I can see why people go crazy about it. So stiff, so light, and so easy to cut and shape. Even sands nicely.

Europe has different foams than we have. The Polish foam is the most interesting to me. Dense, strong and light.
