MacOS: a bug report and a test version available

Hello,

I was notified by two Wing Helper users that on MacOS, starting with one of the OS updates, there is a bug leading to spurious crashes respectively "hanging popup windows" showing the values converted to inch. In the following few days, version 1.7.1 will be released, with the fix for the crashes and an option to turn off the additional popup windows:

If you turn the option "Show converted values" off, the annoying issue with the windows that are not removed correctly is avoided. I am still searching for a better solution, but at least for now, that's what I was able to find.

If you want to give the test version a try, you can fetch it from this link. If all goes well, I expect to release this version in the coming few days.

Yeah, that was kind of annoying. Nice to have a simple solution.

Happy to hear! I was surprised how few people have reported the issue, it was a rather nasty (and unexpected) one.

Hi Alex

I just purchased Wing Helper from you and downloaded it on my MacBook Pro running OS 13.

The inch conversion popup was still staying on even after shutting WingHelper down.

Also on the edit page some of the pop ups… well .. don’t pop up.

I can’t add spars etc because the list doesn’t appear.

Am I using too new an OS?

If so which OS do I need to be running for optimal performance?

I have an Older MacBook I use for my laser cutter that is running 10.4.x

Would that be a better choice ?

Hello,

yes I know, that with the popups that don't go away is a terribly annoying, and only happening under MacOS. However, now there is the option to turn them off, so at least one can get rid of them.

That has nothing to do with the list of spars though - that one should always pop up correctly. Can you please post a screenshot of where you are clicking with the right mouse key? You must click into the empty part of the table. On this screenshot, the click was where the upper left corner of the pop-up screen is:

And to get rid of the inch pop-ups, please untick "show converted values":
