Lost USB Ports

Got my new FrSKY 10S and right after I got it changed from ETHOS to Open TX. All went well and after a little bit, now I cannot see either the 10S or my 9XD plus on my computer. I've lost my USB connections when looking in File Explorer at the drives. Radio is working fine but I cannot see it with Companion or my computer. The computer makes the dinging sound when I plug it in, but I cannot see it in the computer. My SMT32 Bootloader disappeared so I have re-installed them in my computer, and updated the drivers with Zadig, but still cannot see them. Anyone ever seen this issue?

In short yes - Windows driver issues.

Don't think we use Zadig here at the office anymore. I know I have not used it in years. Maybe the guys have a use for it..?

Over the years we have seen some windows systems really hate USB drivers. It is all over my pay grade.

I posted on Facebook also and a fellow flyer Nimrod Pirkes from Israel communicated a fix to me. He walked me thru it step by step to get the driver back into the proper place in the computer. I tried Dell and after an hour they gave up and told me to call FrSKY. It's amazing the help and knowledge out there. Thanks so much for replying to me.

This may not apply to the problem you had with Companion, but for use with simulators this is a well known issue. Apparently Windows 10 updates will often cause problems with the driver you need to use your FrSky (or any other?) radio with your PC. Here is a link to a YouTube video that shows how to fix it:

He also provides a link to a Painless360 video on the same subject.

Glad you got it going!! It is never an easy process.. In the old days I would switch to another computer here at the shop rather than deal with the driver mess. At one time none of the PCs here would behave. Bugger! I think I ended up doing major system work to the computers to get the issue sorted out.

Now I just use my Mac. LOL
