Los Banos closure

FYI, Los Banos Creek Reservoir will be closed to all activities starting September 2nd. The schedule says it will open in May, but Peggy said she would be surprised if they open at all next year. They are draining the lake in order to connect it to the California Aquaduct.

Wouldn't think that lake could feed the aquaduct for more than a few hours. LOL Hope the new boat ramp is really long.

I see it says the 6th. We were told the 2nd, so who knows. I'm going to try to get another day out there next week if the wind looks decent.

Darn it. February thru April are the best and most consistent slope weather conditions at LB in my long experience there. We're gonna miss most of that window :(

I have to wonder if the rangers are still there, the slope could actually be available if the roads are not impacted. Might be worth checking in with them.

Yeah, so could you get to a slope if nobody is there to unlock? Or maybe they will leave them unlocked in their absence.

well , there are logistics and the associated manpower that they may try to avoid, : trash pick up, porta potty , etc

Yeah since it is a State park, I can't see access being left open to the public uncontrolled. Sure would be nice though, but I doubt it.

I sent in a permit request for October 24-26 and looks like it will be approved.
received your permit request for the flying gliders.
This comment is what Brandy sent back to me today so there is still hope.

Yes, the park is going to be closed for construction from September to late April.

From the information that I have currently, it seems that south rim will remain open and your permit should be approved.

Should anything change – I will let you know asap!

Have not had a problem with her other than taking to darn long to check the people in. She does like to chat with folks.
