Long SBUS leads

Is there any limit to the length of SBUS leads for telemetry? I have a 7+ foot run from my GPS to my volt/amp module and the GPS is a foot from my receiver.
I am aware that with long servo lead runs an amplifier can be helpful,, but with telemetry runs are they needed?

I think you may have a typo, SBUS is not used for Telemetry. SBUS is a serial control output. S-Port is used for Telemetry. Don't understand your distances. You say your GPS is 7 feet from your volt module and 1 foot from your RX. Do you have 6 feet of cable coiled up?

My application is a ship. The GPS mounts close above the receiver and the volt/amp modules are mounted aft, about a seven foot run, from the GPS. No coiled up cables used...

Make sure your cables are the twisted type, this helps noise rejection, avoid running cables near other electrical sources of interference.
 
i was trying to find some spec's on what cable lengths are ok but didnt find anything. I would think it should be similar to servo runs and you can go several meters with those based off the wingspan of the bigger planes. fports are digital too so should be good for whatever distance you are worried about.
 
The biggest issue as you have described would be voltage drop along the wire length. Low voltages and small wires can have some voltage drop, but I think you are fine in this case. And the other would be RF noise, but being on a boat, much less worry about this than aircraft.
