LATE FLAGGING!!! (Man On Man Slope Racing)

Late flagging is always a problem that all CD's have to deal with from the pilots. This is always a cry with Man on Man slope racing. Heck just about all racing that requires feedback from the pylon judge.

Pilots need to understand that what they notice as late flagging is really a rate problem.

For example if you are coming downwind at 20mph ground speed and are behind by 1/2 a second at Base "A". That 1/2 a second will be 2 seconds if both pilot's ground speed is 5 MPH upwind. So while it looked like you are real close when making the Base "A" turn, you see a long delay when trying to fly that same few feet you were behind at Base "A" when coming up to Base "B". That two seconds looks real bad when the lead plane is already coming back and you are still waiting for your flag! Don't worry this rate problem will reverse itself at Base "A" when he is going upwind and you are still speeding downwind.

All the best,
Konrad
