L9R micro?

P.I.Engineer

New User
has there been any talk of a micro L9R?

All i use on mine is sbus and rssi. .
Cppm, sbus and rssi on a channel would be all i want

Different antennas would be nice, from what i've read, they're special, so i get if they can't be changed.

question: Does removing the plastic covers on the paddle antennas affect performance?

I stripped down an L9R, removing the board at the end with the pins as all I wanted was sbus and rssi. It fit in a small quad after that. I tried the other pcb antennas from an X8R and they worked poorly. If you look closely at the L9R antennas there is some circuitry on them, maybe an active filter and or amp.
I removed the plastic covers and heat shrinked the L9R antennas to plastic tubes and it didn't seem to have affected the performance. Range was still limited by run time.

Oh sorry, i read your comment wrong. Thought you meant the 900 stuff.
I have been using ezuhf on 433mhz for my long range stuff now for a few years. But it looks like they are not really supporting it any more. I really want the 900 frsky stuff to work as its a great price but just cant find any good reviews or tests of it working longer than the l9r. The TBS crossfire is amazing for what you get but pretty pricey to move a large number of planes to it.

Yes, we have asked FrSky to consider a smaller LXR receiver. I think it may be in the works. :)
