KST X-08 plus vs HS08 spines (pitch diameter)

Now that we are in the off season of F3F racing I thought I'd take the time to upgrade / maintain some of my birds. There has been a new 8mm thick servo from KST the HS08. I've been using these in a few ships this year. And while the spec's don't seem to indicate that there is too much difference between the speed of the X-08 and HS08 I have noticed that in the real world the HS08 does perform like a much faster servo, using the X-08 as a baseline. I think this speed is actually as a result of the higher torque translating into higher speed when worked under load.

OK, so far so good. Now the output shaft look to be the same in O.D. and spline count. But when I use the same Servorahmen IDS servo arm, I notice that it takes a lot more force to slip on the arms on to the X-08 output shaft. Heck, with the HS08 the Servorahmen IDS servo arm slips on without any force required. This is a problem as I now see (feel) spline to arm slop. With the HS08 I now have double centering issues. Where with the X-08 plus I had no noticeable spline clearance.

So the question is has KST changed the spline pitch diameter between the X-08 and HS08a? I've test this across about a dozen servos and the results are the same. The X-08 plus is the much better servo with the Servohamen output arms.

Anybody have experiance with these two servos and their splines?

Very good question - We recently had someone else askiing about spare arms for the X10 Mini. Seems they are stripping the arms rather easily. I'll ask Servorahmen about this.
