Knief Racer - New Product & Build

Want to buy mine? I think I spent a night or maybe two building it. So complex. LOL Dude it is 3 servos and a motor mount.

Nice, I know it is probably easy, but for some reason when it comes to power setups, I stop. LOL.

So text me on how much. :)

I have a spare BL-15 you can have - the exact motor Wayne's using for this plane. All you'll need is a Neuron 60, receiver, servos, and the 4.75 x 5.5 prop. (Don't quote me on that prop size) Besides, you may want to glue in your own firewall with something besides five minute epoxy along with the *slight* thrust line issues.

Do you still have this little pylon racer Wayne? I've been looking at getting one for a while and might be interested in buying yours if you still have it.
Thanks.

Sorry I’d like to keep it. We have been doing some more development and really enjoy the plane when I manage to get her into the air.

Is it a problem getting her in the air? Or is it just a time constraint kind of issue (Life gets in the way)?

No worries, thanks anyway.
I've just ordered a FG one in yellow (preferred Orange was OOS at my local HS. This will be my first 'mouldy'.
There will be a bit if learning involved working with FG insteed of foam but I need to start somewhere and this looks to be a really great value candidate.
Thinking of sticking a Brotherhobby 2408 25-2700kV Quad motor in it for 3S and maybe also 4S, probably with a 80A quad ESC.
Servos I'm not sure off yet.. I have some slim digital MG Emax servos that might fit but will probably just go the full hog with KST's.

Thanks for this build log, it will be very useful.

Just me not flying her much. I don't always bring it to the field, and honestly have not flown for a little while now. Life projects and bad weather.

Hi, I am new to Aloft forums. I have just received the Knief. Can I ask what is the lightest 3s motor that can achieve the required CG? I don't mind mounting the motor in front of the mount plate for better CG and cooler running. I am aiming for the lightest possible setup with 3s 850mAh lipos for easy sport flying.

Hmm, good question. I had originally used a small and light quad motor in mine and had to place the battery all the way forward to get CG. I do not recall what size battery I was running. But it was a good setup with plenty of speed and still very light to cruise around.

Well i stuffed my Jibe 2 a couple weekends ago on a full tilt pass, scraped the runway and unfortunately that wing is held on by tape and that scuff was enough to alow the wing to eject. 185mph+ lawn dart. Just ordered one of these to replace it, swapping over the power system. Should scoot well. NEU 1110 1y and CC 100A. Mostly run on 3s with 5x5 some 4s on 4.75 props but 4s really jumps the amps. Lookin forward to getting this in the mail.

Just picked a used one from here , super excited , I dont want to fly my x-planes every weekend fearing of damaging ..looks like this is a good mini replacement .

this comes with with HET 2w-23 ,2900kv ,APC prop 5.5x6.5, planning on running on a 4s 2200 mah Hv SMC lipo.. what speeds can i expect from this set up?

also I saw a few program flapperons to slow the plane, can anyone please give me some info, any mixing with elevator etc ..Will soak up all the info i can over the weekend to fly this pretty plane .

ooohh, I believe I engineered the setup for that guy!
Should reach about 180 MPH on 3s and break 220 on 4s. You're going to want to go to a 100A ESC on 4s though instead of the 70A that's in there though.

Keep us updated on how it goes. I took the power system out of my jibe 2 to put in my x-ray build. Similar setup. Neu 1110 1y, cc 100 lite, 5x5 on 3s 2200 went low 190s on the jibe which was a bit bigger and heavier. Touched 200 on 4s and 4.7x4.2. but would quickly heat up and over amp and pull power. Can't wait to give this little one a try as well.
