JASCO 1946 floater build

Finished the floater, but no maiden yet. Decided to do a tissue over doculam covering.
Used Ezetissue in red and yellow. The red looks OK, but the.yellow, has a blotchy look
to it. Finish weigh is 31oz, ready to fly. The wing loading is 8.25 oz/sf.
For my first time, it wasn’t too bad. Can be better. Tissue finish is all based on how good the
doculam goes down, of course.

The tissue over doculam is interesting. Can you explain the process a bit?

And I have to say this: How dare you post up pictures of a tiddy work room!! Shame shame shame! Don't you know you can pile things up on those flat surfaces? This adds tons of fun searching for that little thing you just had, but sat down somewhere.

Don't you know you can pile things up on those flat surfaces?

Ain't it the truth?

This adds tons of fun searching for that little thing you just had, but sat down somewhere.

I am amazed at how many things I can lose within arm's reach.

Hey, 61rcpilot:

I think you could get a new nickname out of this: Tidy Bob.

Bob is a stalwart 518 flying buddy,
and a over the top prolific builder.

Photos from this past Tuesday at a local field.

I saw a video on u tube of Mark Robinson showing how it’s done. I start by brushing on coverite balsa conditioner to the balsa
Then ironing on the Doculam. Next is laying the tissue over the lam, laying it as smooth as u can, then I spray the tissue with a
Perfume bottle of water,(u want a fine water mist, as to not disturb the tissue). Using a 1 - 1 1/2” painters brush, u brush on
Water based polycrylic, brushing out any wrinkles. Trimming is done after the piece is dry, usually with a #11 hobby knife.
I am starting a wing of a Buccaneer, if you would like reports on how it’s going?

Interesting. This makes it more durable than normal tissue, but gives the tissue look??

We have a SAM clUB locally, I am drawn to the look of tissue for the vintage models.
